IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlucontinued to inform the public about the snowfall. Addressing the citizens from AKOM, İmamoğlu said, “I sincerely thank you for the sense of acting together. From the very beginning, I see that we have proven to our Istanbul and our people how beneficial our consultations with our governorship, whether in AFAD or AKOM, and the principle of working together with all public institutions and organizations are beneficial. Therefore, there is no problem that the people who own the business and the people involved in the business cannot solve on behalf of the public, our state, and our nation when they come together. I wish this synchronized work to be an example for many working environments from now on and the character of problem solving at the table by coming together. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved," he said.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlucontinued to inform the public about the snowfall, which caused us to experience the coldest and wettest month of March in recent years. Standing in front of the cameras with CHP Deputy Chairman Onural Adıgüzel, İmamoğlu addressed the citizens from the Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM).

“IF WE DON'T SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY, THE SOLUTION IS DIFFICULT”

Pointing out that all state institutions and organizations act jointly in the fight against snow, İmamoğlu said, “Istanbul is a really big metropolis. And we are in a city where it is not easy to find a solution no matter what we really do, unless we create this synchronized feeling, if we do not take responsibility together. Because, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality provides services with its 9 and 500 thousand employees. On the field with more than 10 vehicles. But if there is a line in the field where it is not possible for the vehicles to advance, it is of course difficult to reach the result, no matter how many vehicles you have or how many employees you have. In this regard, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to our 2000 million citizens and fellow citizens for the maximum attention and compliance our citizens have shown to all our warnings, which continue during the last two snowfalls and as of now. It's really okay together, on the contrary, as I always say, we lived and are living the days when we talked about the beauty and abundance of snow. In this context, I would like to express my happiness once again.”

A CALL TO CITIZENS "DO NOT LEAVE PRECAUTION"

Stating that the snowfall is mainly effective in the districts in the western parts of the city, İmamoğlu repeated his call to the citizens not to go out to traffic, to prefer public transportation, and to take precautions, except for essential situations. Expressing that the metro services continue until 02.00:24 at night, İmamoğlu noted that the metrobus will continue its service on a 100-hour basis. Sharing that IETT will organize additional flights when necessary, İmamoğlu stated that there is no problem in the City Lines. Emphasizing that there are preparations for 54 thousand provisions and XNUMX thousand mobile materials to be delivered to citizens and employees in possible traffic jams, İmamoğlu said that the salt stocks of IMM are also sufficient.

“WE HAVE A HIGH NUMBER OF VEHICLES AND INTERVENTION CAPACITY”

Pointing out that they have a high number of vehicles and response capacities, İmamoğlu said, "We provide support to other public institutions and organizations in this process, when needed, not only in our 4 thousand 23 kilometer network of responsibility, but also at other points where we are in contact with other organizations at any time. Let's say that we rushed to the unit and we were right next to them," he said. Noting that 630 homeless citizens were hosted in IMM facilities in snow conditions and all their needs were met, İmamoğlu said, "Let us, in good conscience, convey that when they wish to go outside of the province, to their hometowns, all their needs are met and their travels are provided for the comfort of 16 million people." İmamoğlu noted that they distribute 655 tons of high nutritious dry food daily at 2 different locations for street creatures.

“CONTINUE OUR CALLS WITH WHAT YOU SHOW”

“The snowfall continues. We have to continue to take our measures and act together with our 16 million citizens,” İmamoğlu said.

“Especially tomorrow, the snowfall will continue until the afternoon. In this context, we know that it will make our job easier for our citizens to take precautions. I hope we will have ended a period with the heaviest snowfall and precipitation in a healthy way, perhaps in the month of March, which received the heaviest rainfall in recent years, so to speak, at a point where spring should be experienced. Let us state that our dam occupancy of up to 90 percent is another blessing of this period. Please continue to show the interest you have shown in our calls so far. I sincerely thank you for the sense of acting together that you have shown. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved.”
