“We need to return to the fertility of this land”

Pointing out that food is not just about taste, President Soyer said, “Food has a very close relationship with agriculture, and agriculture with health. Without this relationship, we live an unhealthy and unhappy life. This awareness work caused us to understand the issue better. We have seen once again how valuable the thing called fiber food is. Our work under the slogan of 'Another Agriculture is Possible' is a work in this field. While it was possible for us to meet with much tastier and healthier products in the fertile lands of our ancient culture, we were faced with a result that is dependent on imports and eliminates local diversity due to wrong agricultural policies. The pandemic period, war, social and economic crises have led to the conclusion that we have to give up on this. We must return to the fertility of this land. We need to go back to local seeds, local animal breeds. However, if we can do this, we will be able to live a healthier, smiling life.”

We have to change our way of life

Mentioning the importance of cyclical culture for a healthy life, President Soyer said, “We are making a recipe we call cyclical culture. This is a recipe based on four titles. Harmony with our nature, harmony with each other, harmony with the past and harmony with the future. That is, adapting to change. We have to reconsider our way of life with a culture that rests on these four pillars. We have to live in harmony and peace in this universe," he said.

“Nature makes its rules for you”

The most important gastronomy fair of the world, Terra Madre Anadolu İzmir, Slow Food, which will be held in Izmir in September, conveying information about the red crabgrass wheat, for which studies are being carried out, İzmir Village-Koop President Neptün Soyer said, “Man is so incompatible with nature that He wants to move very fast, he wants to eat faster, he wants more, bigger, taller, higher. Actually, nature is not like that. Nature makes its rules for you. We continue our efforts to ensure that our citizens reach healthy food in harmony with nature.”

Young people should develop healthy eating habits

Stating that large intestine (colon) cancer has turned into a very common disease in which 1 million people in the world and 20 thousand people in Turkey are caught every year, Turkish Colon and Rectal Surgery Association Board Member Prof. Dr. Cem Terzi said, “The incidence of colon cancer has doubled in the last 10 years. 2% of colon cancer cases occur under the age of 10. This rate is increasing day by day. This shows that colon cancers will be the disease of the younger generations in the future. Fast food, additives, preservatives and acidic beverages are very dangerous in this respect. A Mediterranean diet with plenty of fiber and fruit and vegetables is very beneficial for intestinal health. Our biggest chance is our traditional Turkish cuisine, that is, our pot dishes. In this respect, it is very important for us to inculcate the habit of cooking pots in young people. That's why we chose the name of this project as 'Our Health is in the Pot'. Throughout March, we held awareness activities with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality on healthy nutrition. We aimed to reach young people by organizing this event with digital content producers who have thousands of young followers.
