The “10.000 Schools in Basic Education Project” was implemented by the Ministry of National Education in order to reduce success and opportunity differences between schools and to strengthen equality of opportunity in education. A budget of 3 billion TL was allocated for the project.

The Ministry of National Education has implemented the "10.000 Schools in Basic Education Project", for which all necessary preparations have been completed in order to reduce success and opportunity differences between schools and to strengthen equality of opportunity in education. Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to open 3 kindergartens and 40 thousand nursery classes within a year. On the other hand, many supports will be put into practice, from strengthening the infrastructure of selected primary education schools to enriching educational environments.

The evaluation meeting of the project, of which all its preliminary preparations were completed, was held today under the chairmanship of the Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer. Deputy Ministers of Ministry of National Education, General Managers, Advisors of Ministers and national education directors of 81 provinces attended the meeting.

Planning for 2 kindergartens has been completed and 133 new kindergarten classes have been opened.

In order to increase access to pre-school education, which is the most important part of the project, it is planned to open 2022 new kindergartens and 3 new nursery classes by the end of 40. In this context, 93 new kindergartens were put into service. The tender for 216 new kindergartens has been completed. 2 thousand 148 new kindergartens were included in the investment program.

In addition, 7 thousand 500 new kindergarten classes were opened and education began. A total of 15 million lira was used, with 50 million lira for repairs and 65 million lira for classroom equipment and educational materials.

As a result of these investments, the schooling rate, which was 5 percent in the 78-year-old group, rose to 90 percent in a short time.

7 thousand primary schools were included in the scope of improvement

While 3 thousand new kindergartens were built within the scope of the project, 7 thousand primary schools were included in the scope of improvement. Small and major repair needs of 7 thousand primary schools were evaluated. As a first step, within the scope of the infrastructure needs of 7 thousand primary schools, the decision to establish computer laboratories in 1.000 primary schools, general gardening of 2 thousand 930 primary schools, repair of toilets and sinks in 2 thousand 932 primary schools, repair of doors and windows of 2 thousand 919 primary schools, and meeting the need for interior and exterior paint. receipt.

In addition, updating the heating system of 1.764 primary schools, repairing the electrical installations of 2 primary schools, renovating the teachers' rooms of 376 primary schools, sending science, mathematics and social studies course material sets to 2 thousand 782 primary schools, sending book sets consisting of 3 books to the libraries of 50 thousand primary schools, It was decided to establish music workshops in 7 primary schools and to meet the sports equipment needs of 1.000 primary schools.

Development Support for Students, Teachers and School Administrators

Support training programs were prepared in order to improve the basic skills of students in all primary schools included in the project. In addition, first aid awareness trainings and psychosocial development support trainings were planned for students. Studies have been initiated to support students' participation in cultural, artistic and sports activities.

On the other hand, professional and personal development trainings were prepared for all administrators and teachers in 7 primary schools. Trainings were initiated for administrators and teachers in order to raise awareness of the project and inform them.

Making an evaluation about the project, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said: “With the 10.000 Schools in Basic Education Project, we aim to increase access to pre-school education on the one hand, and to reduce the difference in opportunities between primary schools in order to strengthen equality of opportunity in education, on the other hand. We started the project this March. We have made significant progress, especially in terms of increasing access to pre-school education, well ahead of the planned schedule. We have also completed the planning of development support programs for students, teachers and school administrators, strengthening the educational infrastructure of the selected 7 thousand primary schools, enriching the educational environments. From now on, we are putting this part of the project into practice as of this week. In this meeting, we evaluated the whole project and the work to be done in March in detail together with our friends. Hopefully, we will have finished the project by the end of December. I would like to thank my colleagues, 81 provincial directors, school administrators, teachers and all our stakeholders who put great effort into the realization of the project.”
