Maintenance and Repair Works Continue on Mimar Sinan Overpass

On the Mimar Sinan Overpass, which is located on the Izmit crossing of the D-100 Highway and has become one of the symbols of the city, the maintenance and repair works carried out by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality continue rapidly. The western part of the overpass, whose stainless paint and mechanical cleaning has been completed, is now open to pedestrian use. In the eastern part, which is closed to pedestrian use, mechanical cleaning of the steel, stainless painting and sandblasting works are carried out.

THE SANDBLASTING PROCESS IS DONE IN MIDDLE NIGHT

The cladding of the western part of the Mimar Sinan Overpass, which was maintained and repaired by the Metropolitan Municipality, was dismantled and steel sheet mounted on the ground. The ground renovation work on the west side of the overpass was completed and offered to the citizens. Work continues rapidly on the eastern side of the overpass. The sandblasting process is carried out at midnight by partially closing the traffic in order not to damage the pedestrians and vehicles on the lower legs of the Yeni Cuma Mosque part of the overpass. Thus, pedestrian and vehicle safety is ensured.

COMPLETED SECTIONS OPENED

In the Mimar Sinan Overpass, which was built in 2009, structural defects were eliminated with sandblasting and stainless protective paint, while the part where sheet metal coating and painting was completed within the scope of the works on the overpass was opened for pedestrian use. Pedestrian safety is ensured by laying non-slip rubber material on the floor in rainy weather. Aiming to complete the renovation of the remaining parts of the overpass in a short time, the Metropolitan Municipality will then complete the work by asphalting the ground.

STAINLESS AND PROTECTIVE PAINT

While the maintenance and repair of pedestrian overpasses throughout the city by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality started with Mimar Sinan Pedestrian Overpass, maintenance and repair of all pedestrian overpasses, especially Turgut Özal and Adnan Menderes overpasses on the D-100 Highway, will be carried out in the coming months. Stainless and protective paint will be used on the overpasses. Within the scope of the maintenance and repair works of the overpasses, 4 thousand square meters of sandblasting, 4 thousand 750 square meters of paint cleaning, 8 thousand 750 square meters of paint, glass replacement, welding, asphalt runway repair, asphalt coating and tartan runway repair works will be carried out.
