Defense Industry President İsmail Demir made a statement on Twitter: “The critical process the world has passed through has once again shown us the importance of a fully independent defense industry. With this awareness, we continue our work and increase the domestic platforms in the inventory of our security forces. Finally, we delivered the T129 ATAK Helicopter to the Gendarmerie.” said.

For many years, Turkey remained foreign-dependent for defense products. This dependency brought along many security problems in political and military matters. Security problems became the driving force and Turkey took big and determined steps in terms of independent defense industry and switched to domestic production.

With the last delivery, the total number of ATAKs in the Gendarmerie's inventory increased to 11. Previously, T-2021 ATAK FAZ-10 was delivered to the Gendarmerie General Command in December 2021 (9th), 8 November (7th), October (129th) and August (2th). It was announced that a total of 18 T129 ATAK helicopters would be delivered to the Gendarmerie General Command aviation units with the order given by the Presidency of Defense Industries, but the number was increased to 2021 in the report shared by the Gendarmerie General Command in March 24.

Within the scope of the T129 ATAK project carried out by the Presidency of Defense Industries, 70 ATAK helicopters produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries-TUSAŞ to date have been delivered to the security forces. At least 56 ATAK helicopters (5 of which are Phase-2) were delivered to the Land Forces Command, 11 to the Gendarmerie General Command and 3 to the General Directorate of Security by TAI. 2 units of the ATAK FAZ-21 configuration, for which the first deliveries have been made, will be delivered in the first stage.
