Ankara Metropolitan Municipality aims to provide citizens with a healthy and affordable diet with its social municipality practices. In this context, Halk Bread Factory decided to sell cubed meat and ground meat at affordable prices in Başkent Markets during the month of Ramadan. Implementation will start from April 1st.

Metropolitan Municipality People's Bread Factory will implement a new application in meat sales with an affordable price policy for the month of Ramadan.

Cubed and ground meat prepared from healthy, high quality, hygienic and reliable meat to be obtained from producer cooperatives in Ankara will be sold in half and one kilo packages at Başkent Markets and Factory Outlet Stores at affordable prices as of April 1, 2022.

The application will continue throughout the month of Ramadan

Tamer Eski, the General Manager of Halk Bread Factory, announced that during the month of Ramadan, cubed meat and minced meat will be sold at affordable prices in 6 Başkent Market Branches and 3 Factory Outlets.

After the 'meat support' initiated by the Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş for families receiving social assistance in January, GİMAT, Batıkent, Etimesgut, Mamak, Kızılay and ASKİ Başkent Market branches and Gökkuşağı, Mithatpaşa and ABB Factory Outlet Stores ensured that all Ankara residents can buy affordable meat. Stating that they aim to do so, Eski gave the following information:

“As Halk Bread Factory and Başkent Markets, we have completed our preparations for our fellow citizens to procure cubed and ground meat at the most affordable prices during the month of Ramadan. We will supply our meat from producer cooperatives in the surrounding districts of Ankara. Our staff veterinarian and our agricultural engineer zootechnician will closely monitor the procurement, slaughter and sale process of the meat we obtain from the cooperatives in Ankara. We will sell the cubed meat and minced meat prepared from the meat we have analyzed, to our people at the most affordable prices in the aisles of our Başkent Markets and Factory Outlets.”

The number of capital markets will increase

Stating that they have established a supply chain between local producers and consumers from Ankara dealing with livestock and agriculture through Başkent Markets, Eski said:

“The biggest dream of our President, Mansur Yavaş, is to develop the farmers and producers engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry in the rural areas of Ankara. We implemented the Başkent Market application in order to realize the promise of our President, Mansur Yavaş, "My biggest dream is to make the people of Ankara rich and to reduce unemployment in the countryside". Başkent Markets, a Rural Development Project, made both producers and consumers smile. Both sides won as we eliminated middlemen and brokers. Thanks to the Başkent Market project, which we opened its first branch in Etimesgut on April 29, 2020, we have purchased 23 items of local products from 55 producer cooperatives and unions across the country, 234 of which are from Ankara. In the last two years, we have made an economic contribution to all producer cooperatives and unions, among which our women are the founders, by paying approximately 152 million TL. We anticipate expanding the service network by further increasing the number of Başkent Market branches in the coming days.”

Halk Bread Factory will continue to bring together natural and local products as well as affordable meat products at the iftar tables.
