Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that an agreement was reached with Bulgaria to remove the disinfection fee in order to speed up border crossings, and said, "We also achieved a significant increase in pass quotas."

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a written statement about the transition documents. Reminding that he met with his counterpart Nikolay Sabev in Bulgaria in the past days, Karaismailoğlu stated that after the bilateral meeting, the crossings through the border gates started to accelerate.

NUMBER OF TRANSIT TRANSITION DOCUMENTS INCREASED TO 375

Pointing out that important decisions were taken at the Turkey-Bulgaria Joint Land Transport Commission (KUKK) Meeting, which took place after the bilateral meeting, Karaismailoğlu continued as follows:

“A significant part of our exports to Europe takes place through Bulgaria. Considering the increasing export volume, a great increase was achieved in the quotas of pass documents used in road transport with Bulgaria. With the protocol signed at the end of the meeting, the number of transit documents for transit transportation via Bulgaria was increased from 250 thousand to 375, and the number of bilateral transit documents increased from 32 thousand to 50 thousand. In addition, the quota for empty entry freight transfer documents has been increased from 17 to 500 thousand, and the quota for 25rd country document documents has been increased from 3 to 100. In order to facilitate transportation, it has been decided not to require a pass certificate from vehicles that come for repair, maintenance and similar reasons, or from vehicles that do not carry out commercial transportation, such as work machines.

DISINFECTION FEE WILL BE REMOVED

Noting that the density experienced at the border gates was also discussed due to the increasing trade volume, Karaismailoğlu stated that an agreement was also reached on the removal of the disinfection fee in order to speed up the border crossings.

Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, said, “Bulgaria, on issues such as increasing the capacity of the border gates, opening new platforms for refrigerated vehicles at the Kapıkule border gate, allowing small tonnage vehicles to transport goods up to 5 tons to use the Dereköy Border Gate, opening a new border gate for tourism transports. He also said he was working on it. In addition, it was decided to start a study to facilitate the passenger transportation, which has increased recently," he said.
