Turkey's seventeenth largest trading partner with Belgium, giving priority to the development of trade links EGİAD (Aegean Young Businessmen's Association) business world has included Belgium, the center of the European Union (EU), among its target markets within the scope of the Foreign Trade Ambassadors Project. With an event where Belgium's economy, the country's geographical location, developed transportation network and various industrial and commercial structures were discussed, it was aimed to increase the trade volume between the two countries. Kimflor Chemistry Deputy General Manager and EGİAD Pınar Berberoğlu, Deputy Treasurer of the Board of Directors, and Thibaut Hofman, CFO of Floridienne Group, attended as guest speakers.

The meeting on Doing Business with Belgium brought together young business people over the webinar. Belgium, which is one of the most developed economies in Europe with its industry, port, canal, railway and highway infrastructures, is engaged in textile, iron and steel, refining, food processing and production, chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, automobile, electrical - electronics and machinery production. EGİADYoung people from ' entered the branding of the business world. Young businessmen who want to strengthen commercial relations with the country, whose traditional industry corresponds to 74.9% of the country's GDP, aim to play an important role in the development of commercial links between the two countries.

The keynote speaker of the meeting EGİAD President Alp Avni Yelkenbiçer talked about the advantages of the Foreign Trade Ambassadors program, EGİAD Thanks to its members. He also stated that Turkey ranks 17th among Belgium's trade partners. EGİAD President Alp Avni Yelkenbiçer said, “We aim to play an important role in the development of commercial relations between the two countries. Although it is among the countries that depend on world trade, Belgium, one of the founding states of the European Community, realizes three-quarters of its exports with other EU countries and supports the integration of the economies of EU countries with each other. While Turkey exported 2019 billion dollars to Belgium in 3,4, it imported 3,2 billion dollars from Belgium. Our bilateral trade size exceeded 2019 billion dollars in 6,6. Belgium, the world's twenty-fifth largest economy, has a strategic advantage due to its location in the center of Western Europe and its multicultural structure. Belgium ranks 46th in the World Bank's "Ease of Doing Business" index. In 2019, our trade volume with Belgium was recorded as 6 billion 413 million dollars. In 2019, Belgium is the 15th country to which we export the most (with a share of 1,9 in total exports) and the 15th country to which we import the most (with a share of 1,6 in total imports). Between 2002 and 2018, the total of direct investments from our country to Belgium was 335 million dollars. In 2019, 557.435 Belgian tourists visited our country. "We will work to increase the trade volume between the two countries," he said.

Kimflor Chemistry Deputy General Manager and EGİAD Pınar Berberoğlu, Deputy Treasurer of the Board of Directors, made a detailed presentation on the social, economic, educational and digital structure of the country. Stating that Belgium, which has a high-income economy, has a GDP of 557.1 billion dollars and a GDP per capita of 48,200 dollars, Berberoğlu said, “In its industries, engineering and metal products, motor vehicle assembly, transportation equipment, scientific instruments, chemical activities play an important role. The export rate is 414.8 billion dollars. Imports, on the other hand, amount to 412.9 billion dollars,” he said.

Thibaut Hofman, CFO of Floridienne Group, stated that Belgium's import and export volume is very high and said, “The tax regime is very attractive. In terms of workforce, the level is also quite high. Labor cost is very competitive compared to Western European countries. Incentive and tax rates are also advantageous,” he said.
