Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to bring environmentalist and sustainable transportation projects together with the citizens of the Capital. In the "Innovative City Logistics Project" titled S+LOADZ, which was funded by the European Union (EU) and started as of January 2022, the Metropolitan Municipality Ankara Wholesale Market was chosen as the first pilot application area in Europe. A smart parking system will be installed in the Wholesale Market, which is included in the environmental project.

Pressing the button for technological transformation in the transportation of the capital, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to draw attention with the success it has achieved with the environmentalist and sustainable projects it has implemented in many areas.

It succeeded to take part in the Capital Ankara, in the "Innovative City Logistics Project" titled S+LOADZ, supported by the European Union, in which the Municipalities of Madrid, Paris and Barcelona and the Fraunhofer Institute are among the project partners. Within the scope of the work carried out by BELKA AŞ, the Metropolitan Municipality Ankara Wholesale Market was chosen as the first pilot application area of ​​the project in Europe.

SMART PARKING SYSTEM TO BE ESTABLISHED IN ANKARA WHOLESALE STORE

In Ankara Wholesaler Market, which was selected for the environmentalist project, it is aimed to reduce the carbon emissions released into the nature by establishing a smart parking system.

Belka AS Project Specialist Melis Selbes stated that the design works are continuing and gave the following information:

“The 'Innovative City Logistics Project', which we carry out together with the European Union, is supported by 4 partners from 12 countries. Among them, there are 2 research institutions, 4 private sector and 6 municipalities. BELKA AS is one of the project partners on behalf of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. Within the scope of the 'Innovative City Logistics Project' titled S+LOADZ, the pilot application will be implemented in Ankara Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market. Later on, work will be started for other cities. With this project, it is aimed to establish a smart parking system. With this system, the duration of the vehicles will be determined and it will be aimed to reduce the carbon emissions released into the nature. As the BELKA team, we are proud to represent our country and our Capital by taking part in such an innovative project.”

INNOVATIVE AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT worthy of BAŞKENT

EU program EIT Urban Mobility (The European Institute of Innovation and Technology), which provides funding to BELKA AS, improves the lives of citizens by solving the confusion of cities.

Ankara Wholesale Market, which was selected for the EIT Urban Mobility program, which is one of the most important European Union programs involving many cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Argentina and Paris; It will be rearranged with state-of-the-art sensors, barriers and marking methods.

The "Innovative City Logistics (S+LOADZ) Project", implemented in cooperation with the EU for a smart and sustainable Capital, will also improve parking and loading/unloading processes.

WAITING TIMES WILL BE CALCULATED IN CASE

BELKA AS, which continues to work with the project stakeholders both in the field and in the background for the project, will reduce the complexity and ensure a more efficient use of the market by regulating the excess waiting times in the market as a result of the improvement works.

With the new technology to be applied, traffic density will be reduced by monitoring the availability of parking spaces instantly according to vehicle types, vehicle weight and entry and exit times. The problems encountered during the deliveries, such as the inefficient use of the parking areas, causing delays to other drivers, and causing circulation problems and security risks in the field, will also be eliminated thanks to the new system.
