International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers Association UTIKAD took action to increase female employment in the logistics sector. Members of the Women's Focus Group, which started their work under the coordination of UTIKAD Chairman of the Board Ayşem Ulusoy; They came together in the new office of UTIKAD on Monday, March 7, 2022.
In the face-to-face meeting; A goodwill and cooperation protocol was signed between UTIKAD and WiLAT (Women in Logistics And Transport). With the protocol signed by UTIKAD Chairman of the Board Ayşem Ulusoy and WiLAT Chairman of the Board Berna Akyıldız, it was decided to exchange ideas and cooperate for “women”-oriented studies in the logistics sector.
Ayşem Ulusoy stated that she is happy to meet with the members of UTIKAD Women's Focus Group; “As UTIKAD, we support the steps to be taken to draw attention to the awareness of the existence of women on every platform. As the coordinator of the Women Focus Group, which we created for the first time this year, together with my presidency, we aim to carry out more innovative and more social studies that can increase the effectiveness of women in the logistics sector. We will present our projects to our members and the sector as soon as possible. The Women's Focus Group, which was established to create women's power in the sector, is a valuable formation for UTIKAD. The protocol we signed with WILAT here today is a very important step for our formation," he said.
Ulusoy stated that although transportation and logistics is the second largest potential sector, considering the figures in Turkey, the rate of female employees in terms of workforce is below 15 percent; “Women are strong in the logistics industry. Together, we will continue our efforts to emphasize women's employment, to draw attention to gender equality and to pioneer equality against women workers in the logistics sector. We hope that our industry will rise much more equitably, stronger and by developing thanks to the well-trained male and female workforce.”
After Ayşem Ulusoy's presentation, the problems and solution suggestions expressed by the members of UTIKAD Women's Focus Group were discussed. The meeting ended after the family photo was taken.
