24 More Turkish Students Received Diplomas in Russia for Akkuyu NGS

Petersburg, the Turkish students of the Peter the Great Polytechnic University (SPBPU) completed their training in the specialty "Nuclear Power Plants: Design, Operation and Engineering" as part of the operational personnel training program for the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NGS). Thus, 6 groups completed their training within the scope of the program. Since 2018, 4 groups have graduated from the Russian National University for Nuclear Research (UANU MEPhI), and 1 group has received a specialization in St. Petersburg, he was entitled to graduate from the master's program of the Peter the Great Polytechnic University (SPbPU).

A total of 24 participants in the student group from the Republic of Turkey successfully completed the program, while 3 students graduated with a high degree of success. The students, who were accepted to the specialist training program for Akkuyu NGS in 2015 as a result of a multi-layered qualifying process consisting of tests and competitions, learned Russian for a year in the preparatory class. Interned at the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant during the training, the group studied the equipment production process for the Akkuyu NPP at the Izhora plant and at the "Atommash" enterprise in Petrozavodsk. Students in the group during their education in St. He also had the opportunity to visit various enterprises of energy plants in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. Graduates who have completed their graduation thesis in January will start working on the construction of Akkuyu NPP this summer.

During their education, Turkish students took an active role in their professional, cultural and social life as well as their studies related to departmental courses. Nurberk Sungur received a scholarship for the Maria Skłodowska-Curie program of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Sungur won the right to go to Vienna for a 1-year internship. Turkish students also organized a Turkish culture festival at the Polytechnic University. Students Ege Mert, Şahin Can Tipi and Furkan Arslan formed a rock band and became the finalists of the “Polirock” intercollegiate music competition.
