Train wagons transported by ferry from Van to Tatvan district of Bitlis completely froze due to the waves and cold weather in Lake Van.

The journey of Sultan Alparslan Ferry, one of Turkey's two largest ferries carrying passengers and freight on Lake Van, between Van and Tatvan last night was quite challenging. The ferry, which set off from Tatvan pier during the daytime, sailed back to the lake to return to Tatvan with the load it took from Van pier. The ferry, which also includes freight wagons, made a difficult journey on Lake Van, which lasted for about 4 hours. Continuing its journey among the waves formed in the lake throughout the journey, the ferry reached Tatvan pier at night, despite the cold weather reaching minus 20 degrees. As the giant ferry approached the pier, the officers who descended to the section where the train wagons were located to unload the loads on the ship were shocked by the sight they saw. Seeing that the train wagons loaded from Van were completely covered with ice due to the splashing wave waters, the officers pulled the wagons back to the ice mass from the ferry to the pier one by one.
