The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that a commemoration ceremony will be held in Istanbul on the occasion of the anniversary of the February 24 'Struma' incident.

In a statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the following was stated: “We once again commemorate the Jewish refugees who lost their lives on the ship "Struma" on February 24, 1942, while trying to escape Nazi persecution during the Second World War. The ship "Struma", carrying refugees fleeing the Nazi regime and its collaborators, was torpedoed and sunk by a Soviet submarine in international waters in the Black Sea on February 24, 1942. In order to remember the 768 people who lost their lives in this tragic incident, a commemoration ceremony will be held in Istanbul on February 24 this year, too.”
