OGS System Takes Off! Free Transition to HGS System

In his written statement, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that there are two separate toll collection systems in Turkey, the Automatic Pass (OGS) and the Rapid Pass System (HGS), which sometimes causes confusion in the passages from the toll booths.

Underlining that there are approximately 17 million HGS and OGS subscribers in Turkey, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “About 1,2 million of them are OGS and 15,8 million HGS users. In order to reduce the workload and increase efficiency, in order to provide better service to our citizens, as of 31 March, a single pass system will be implemented instead of two separate pass systems. In 2021, there were 563,1 million passes in HGS and 71,6 million in OGS at the box office. As the application system, it was decided to use the HGS system, which is preferred by 93 percent of the users. In this way, both the preference of the user will be taken into account and the simplicity of the process will be ensured in the transition process.”

REQUIRED MEASURES RECEIVED

Karaismailoğlu stated that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure that OGS subscriber vehicle owners do not experience victimization, and that the owners of vehicles with OGS labels will be given the HGS label free of charge by the relevant banks and their accounts will be converted to HGS. Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, drew attention to the fact that during and after the conversion process, users can easily cross the highway and there will be no disruption.
