Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş stated that they have started the transformation that has been talked about for years on Istanbul Street, which is the only road connection with Istanbul, and they have completed the necessary infrastructure works to accelerate the process. Emphasizing that the Istanbul Street Urban Transformation and Development Area covers an area of approximately 160 hectares from the City Square to the Metro market, Mayor Aktaş said, “We have carried the transformation initiatives that were tried to be made in the past in this area to a more applicable basis. With the zoning plan, which we have approved in the past months, we have increased the rate of housing in existing zoning rights from 50 percent to 70 percent. In this way, we have created a more favorable situation for entrepreneurs who want to invest for transformation purposes and citizens living in the region. By reducing the parcel sizes compared to the previous plan, we contributed to the easier operation of the conversion process. We have increased the use of schools, mosques, social and cultural areas and park areas that our people living in the region will need. While the actual usable width of Yalova Road was 36 meters on average, we increased this width to 70 meters. We are determined to make Istanbul Street a real showcase.”
