Anadolu University has been transforming the digital library concept into an "Open Library" feature since 2016, signing a pioneering approach.

The digitalizing world is changing our normal habits in our daily lives with an increasing momentum, and the digitization of library materials also changes the way people discover information and do research. In this respect, it has become inevitable for the digitalized world and libraries, which are an integral part of education and the process, to gain a digital dimension. Anadolu University, in the aforementioned scope, has been transforming the digital library concept into an Open Library since 2016, thus signing a pioneering librarianship approach. Anadolu University, Open Education Faculty, A. Ü. It created an Open Library with the coordinated work of different units of the University, such as the Library and the Computer Research and Application Center (BAUM). In this field, he processed especially rare works, microfilms, newspapers (local and national), classics and many different works and transferred them to digital platforms.

Open Library serves social memory

Open Library, as well as being a pioneer in all of Turkey, conveys the corporate memory of Anadolu University to its users in the best way possible. The Open Library, which contains archive books and videos of the Open Education System, also records the social memory as well as the institutional memory by making available digitalized microfilms and national and local newspapers. At the address where rare books and Turkish classics are located, you can also access audio books. The Open Library website shares all kinds of opportunities in terms of accessibility, especially with disabled users, in line with the "Accessible University" approach, which Anadolu University attaches great importance to. Thus, rich content of very different qualities becomes accessible to the user whenever he wants, wherever he is in the world.

The total number of materials is increasing day by day.

The majority of the materials on the Open Library website, which currently contains 49314 materials in total, are microfilms of magazines and newspapers that have an important place in the history of Turkish culture. There are 1337 open education books at the address where there are 804 AÖF archive videos and 598 AÖF archive books. There are 841 scanned local newspapers at acikkutuphane.anadolu.edu.tr, where 3405 rare books are digitized and transferred. Again, there are 1569 audio books, 18 Turkish classics and 8 AÖS publications on this digital platform.

Serving millions of Anadolu University students, the Open Library aims to reach the whole of Turkey.

The Open Library, where more and more resources are digitized every day with the team specially formed within Anadolu University, is growing day by day. The Open Library, which is open to the use of Anadolu University formal and open education active students and graduates, and academic and administrative staff, whose number has reached millions for now, is being prepared for the access of all our citizens in the coming days.
