İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club bid farewell to Namık Dalgakıran, the symbol of handball, to the National Team. Dalgakıran will serve as the Assistant Coach of the Turkey A National Handball Team.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club sent off Namık Dalgakıran, the symbol of Turkish handball, who spent 16 years in the family, to the National Team. Club President Ersan Odaman thanked Turkish National Handball Team Assistant Coach Dalgakıran for his efforts by giving a plaque before the match against Antalyaspor. Mayor Odaman said, “Namik Dalgakıran has become a very important value in handball at Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club. He gave a lot of effort to our team in 2021, when our club won the only Turkish Cup. We believe that he will continue his success in the National Team," he said.

Indicating that Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club is the second home, the experienced coach said, “I had very good days both as a player and as a coach. I won the two biggest cups in handball for my club. I had the joy of lifting the Super League Championship Cup as the team captain in 2008 and the Turkish Cup in 2021. I would like to thank President Ersan Odaman for his support. Now I will sweat to be successful in the National Team," he said.

Who is the Breakwater?

Dalgakıran started handball in Şirinyer Alke. He served in Eti Bisküvileri, Halk Bank, Ankaragücü, Çankaya Belediyespor, ASKİ, Beşiktaş, Mersin Yenişehir Belediyespor and İzmir Metropolitan Belediyespor. As an athlete, Dalgakıran won 11 championships, 12 Turkey, 1 Presidential Cup and Prime Minister's Cup. He played for over 100 national jerseys. Breaking his 32-year career as an athlete in 20212, Dalgakıran became the head of the Men's Handball Team in Izmir Metropolitan Belediyespor and played an important role in the team's first Turkish Cup.
