Ford E-Transit Wins 'Gold' Award by Euro NCAP

Ford's first fully electric commercial model E-Transit, manufactured at Ford Otosan's Kocaeli Plants, was awarded the 'Gold' award by the independent vehicle safety organization Euro NCAP for its advanced driving support technologies.

Apart from E-Transit, Ford is the only company with its Transit Custom and Transit models produced in Turkey, which has commercial vans with the 'Gold' award.

The comprehensive technology package offered by E-Transit will help alleviate the driver's workload during long hours in the vehicle, and contribute to reducing work interruptions and repair and insurance costs.

Ford E-Transit, Ford's first fully electric1 commercial model manufactured by Ford Otosan at its Kocaeli Plants, was deemed worthy of the Gold Award in the field of commercial vehicles by the independent vehicle safety assessment organization Euro NCAP, with its comprehensive driver support systems package. In the process of determining the award, various technologies such as autonomous emergency braking, lane tracking technology, traffic sign recognition system and passenger tracking systems were analyzed when approaching vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. It also means that it offers the only two vehicles to have the Euro NCAP Gold Award in its field. With this new award, Ford has become the only van manufacturer with commercial vans that have received a Gold award in both the 2-ton and 2020-ton segments, after Ford Transit received the Gold award from Euro NCAP in 1. Driver assistance technologies offered by E-Transit include Collision Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with 2 Traffic Sign Recognition, 2 Blind Spot Information System with Lane Keeping Alert and Assist, 2 Junction Assist, 2-degree camera and Reversing Brake Assist360 is located. In simulations implemented by Euro NCAP, driver warnings and active safety technology actions were tested when approaching parked vehicles or slower traffic, or when a vehicle in front brakes suddenly. Tests were also conducted for responses to a child running towards the road, cyclists driving or passing2 on the road, and pedestrians. These situations represent possible scenarios in urban environments, where Ford predicts that E-Transits will be used mostly. E-Transit's Gold Award advances Ford's leadership in commercial vehicle safety. Thanks to the Gold Award winner of the Transit Custom model, Ford is the only manufacturer with Gold Award-winning commercial vehicles in the 3-ton, 1-ton and EV segments.

Official homologated energy efficiency values will be announced closer to market launch. The target range and charge time are based on manufacturer-tested values and calculations based on the WLTP drive cycle. Actual range may vary depending on various conditions such as weather and road conditions, driver behavior, vehicle maintenance, age and health status of the lithium-ion battery. Declared WLTP fuel/energy consumption, CO2 emissions and electric driving range values are determined according to the technical requirements and specifications of the Council of Europe (EC) 715/2007 and European Union (EU) 2017/1151 (last modified date) regulations. The standard test procedures applied make it possible to make comparisons between different vehicle types and different manufacturers.
