CA Granada Spain Art Festival (CA Art Festival Granada-Spain)will take place on 24-28 June 2022 in Granada, Spain. We shared all the details of the art festival, which will bring together important artists, galleries, art critics and collectors from many countries of the world, with its founders, Chaled Res and Deniz İlhan. sohbetWe talked to you.
Art circles have recently turned to this festival to be held in Granada. Before moving on to the details of the festival, we would like to get to know you briefly.
Chaled Pic: I am a German artist who has lived together with professional art for 40 years. I have been living in Turkey for the last 7 years. In addition to being the founder of Contemporary Art Aegean, I am also the general curator. It will be exciting for me to reflect my experience in the field of art, which I have accumulated over many years, to the projects we will realize within the body of Contemporary Art Aegean.
Deniz Ilhan: I am a graduate of Ankara Political. I had a business life with senior management and trade. My connection with art has continued throughout my life as a collector. Now, I experience my experience in the business world and my art-lover identity in Contemporary Art Aegean projects. But still, I should underline that; I would not have considered these projects in the field of art if it were not for Chaled. We developed our projects by combining my business experience with Chaled's art experience. For these goals, Contemporary Aegean Fuarcılık A.Ş. we established. As you know, we will organize an international art camp before Granada and then a fair project in İzmir.
What are Contemporary Art Aegean's goals in the field of art?
CR/ D.İ.: Contemporary Art Aegean set out to produce innovative art programs and support cultural development. It is an organization that aims to go beyond the traditional art fair concept with different artistic projects such as festivals, art camps, talks and exhibitions to be held in different locations. We will organize traveling events under the name of Contemporary Aegean in many parts of the world, with the main fair area in Izmir, and we will deliver the artistic promotions of our participants to the world.
By using the humanizing power of art created by man, by emphasizing various public participation programs, we will produce social responsibility projects where we will draw attention to recent natural events, and where art will create a unity of nature, human and art. We plan to implement our ideas for many projects in the future.
We would like to hear from you about the general mission of the festival, which will take place with international participation.
CR: Our aim; to bring together art galleries, art collectors and artists from different civilizations, to present artistic examples and valuable collections from all over the world, and to contribute to the promotion of contemporary Turkish Art to the world. With our mission of being a qualified and unique cultural platform, we aim to provide an important sales platform for participating galleries in the international arena, as well as to offer these galleries the opportunity to exhibit their ambitious installations and site-specific works to thousands of viewers in our projects where we will have aesthetic rules and perspectives for exhibiting works. We want to be able to exhibit art movements without borders, to discover talents, to discover artists, young and old, who have the potential to become great artists but have not yet had the opportunity to exhibit at the main fairs, and at the same time be a showcase for these artists and galleries. Our goal is to become a center of enrichment and discovery by bringing together undiscovered artists with galleries and collectors. Being an organization that stands by the artist and can look through his eyes is the most important criterion of our mission. It is our goal to contribute to the enrichment of the world art market.
D.I.: In addition to the words of Chaled; One of the things we want to do in order to enrich the art world is to be a platform where art can promote the artist rather than the artist promoting his art, where artists can meet with art professionals and develop their successful careers. I would like to state that we will celebrate together.
You are the general curator of Contemporary Aegean, can we learn about your experiences in the art world for many years and your thoughts on the world art market in general?
IT: After completing my art education at Kunsthochschule Kassel Germany, I worked as a director at Freie Akademie der Künste Göttingen. I continue to participate in important biennials, fairs and symposiums around the world, from China to America. Recently, I have an agreement with a collector of Lebanese origin for all my works. I continue my freelance work. I am a member of many important international associations such as IAA International Association of Art UNESCO Paris, IGBK International Association of Fine Arts Berlin and BBK Association of Fine Arts United Germany.
Contemporary art fairs, where hundreds of galleries are represented around the world and exhibit the works of thousands of artists, are also artistic meeting points. Important names of the art world, galleries, collectors and art enthusiasts travel for this purpose only. At the same time, there is a festive atmosphere in those cities. Artists and galleries share intercultural relations with each other, and in this way, art in the world is enriched. Concepts such as fairs and festivals should not be approached as centers that only allow artists to sell. In this way, the artist; introduces his art, movement and color. In order to carry his art further, he shares, interacts and establishes connections with different cultures. Of course, sales are also important. Thanks to the enrichment of art in real international organizations in the world, artists are smiling in this sense.
It is an international festival, but if we asked you to evaluate the subject in terms of Turkish art and artists, what would you say?
CR: As an artist, I would like to say this briefly. We have a point of view that brings together any religion, language, race and culture without separating them from each other. Therefore, every artist who is a part of the project deserves the same attention and respect for us. We will create an intercultural interaction platform with art.
D.I.: I will answer your question for artists in Turkey, but my answer will actually be the same for artists from every country. We are absolutely against a divisive way of thinking. Artists who take part in the festival or in our other projects will be involved in a visionary project with an artist from another culture.
Of course, it is very important for Turkish art and artists to take part in active international art platforms, to meet with international art collectors and professionals, and to increase their communication, connections and recognition. I think that all of our projects are also very valuable projects for promoting Turkey through art.
The Spanish Granada Art Festival will take place simultaneously with another important event. Could you give brief information about this?
D.I.: Yes, the dates of our art festival coincide with the dates of the International Granada Music Festival, which is being held for the 71st time this year. The entire city will become a center of attraction for international art during the festival. Therefore, the works in the CA Granada Spanish Art Festival will also have the opportunity to meet with a wider audience.
We know that there are two more important art projects that Contemporaryaegean Fuarcılık A.Ş. will realize in 2022. Could you give brief information about these projects?
CR /D.İ.: : Yes, we have an art camp project with 20 artists in İzmir/Seferihisar in May and we will organize an art fair in İzmir in October. Our preparations for these events simultaneously with the Spanish Granada Festival continue meticulously.
Before Granada, “Art Camp” will take place in Seferihisar/İzmir with 20 artists from different countries. Artists will carry out workshops and have the opportunity to exchange cultural and artistic information with each other. Art audiences will also have the opportunity to watch this artistic visual feast. At the same time, there will be activities such as environmental trips etc. in the camp program. At the end of the camp, an exhibition of the works they produced will be held.
Contemporary Art Aegean Izmir Fair is; will host galleries and artists from many different countries from different continents. Turkish art and artists will have the chance to introduce themselves to the world in their own country without going to international fairs. We will be honored to organize an organization where the contemporary art-loving people of Izmir can get their fill of contemporary art in their own city.
Now it's time to ask the first question on everyone's minds. Why did you choose İzmir?
CR / D.İ.: The Aegean is the birthplace of European civilization, and also the ancient Aegean Civilizations were the driving force behind the emergence of European art. Izmir; It is a metropolitan city with traces of civilization from these periods, with an understanding of freedom and modernity, and an environment of tolerance that enriches lives due to its unique socio-cultural richness. In this city, which is full of art-loving, smiling and tolerant people, we want to take steps to create a life full of art.
Aegean and İzmir, home of many civilizations, one of the oldest settlements of humanity with its magnificent ancient cities, the homeland of hidden paradises with its deep blue sea, unique nature, will also attract international art professionals with this attraction..
At the same time, we know that many important collectors and art lovers from Izmir are interested in fairs held in other locations. We also aim for them to be included in an art fair that will take place in their own city.
We want to bring people from different cultures together, to introduce contemporary Turkish art to the world, and to make contemporary Izmir known as one of the important centers of international art. Our main goal is to contribute to this metropolitan city, which is the pearl of Turkey and the Aegean, to gain a world-class place in artistic recognition, to be included in the world art market with the right steps, and to become a culture and art metropolis with forward-looking long-term and conscious projects.
