Who is Haydar Dumen?

Haydar Dümen was born in 1931 in the village of İki Saray in Uşak. Since there was no primary school in the village where he lived, he stayed with a family in another village to study. He studied in Uşak until the end of secondary and high school 2nd grade. He studied in Afyon since it was the last year of high school, science branch.

After graduating from high school in 1948, he went to Istanbul to study at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine and graduated in 1955. In 1958, he received his specialty diploma in neurology and psychiatry as a neuropsychiatry specialist. He retired in 25 after working in public hospitals for 1980 years. He married Gul Dümen in 1993.

In 1965, he worked as a chief at Taksim Ilkyardim Training and Research Hospital until 1980. At that time, he was appointed to Samsun as an exile because of the article “Disclosure of Mentally Ills Is Not Correct” in Cumhuriyet Newspaper.

Dümen, who later entered the research and literary life, attracted attention especially with the books he wrote on sexuality. She gave speeches and interviews on sexual problems, especially in the media.
