The armed training ship AL SHAMAL, built by Anadolu Shipyard, was delivered to the Qatar Navy with a ceremony attended by Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar and Minister of Defense of Qatar Khalid bin Muhammed al-Atiyye. Naval Forces Commander Admiral Adnan Özbal and Deputy Minister of National Defense Muhsin Dere also attended the ceremony.
The ceremony at Anadolu Shipyard started with a moment of silence and the national anthems of the two countries.
Speaking after the Quran recitation, Qatar Naval Academy Commander Rear Admiral Khalid Nasser al-Hajri started his speech by thanking the Turkish Armed Forces and those who contributed to the construction of the ship.
Emphasizing that important projects have been implemented between Turkey and Qatar under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamed Al Sani, Rear Admiral Hajri expressed their satisfaction for bringing a high-tech ship to the Qatar Navy.
At the end of the ceremony, where the video of the training activities at QTS 91 AL DOHA, another ship of the project, was watched, the Qatar Flag, which was delivered to the Ship Commander by the Minister of Defense of Qatar, al-Atiyye, was hoisted to the ship's ship accompanied by the Qatar National Anthem.
