Our Minister of Family and Social Services, Derya Yanık, stated that they started the second phase of the “Engineer Girls of Turkey” project, which they continue to ensure that women take more part in the field of engineering, and said, “As in the first phase, we aim to support female students who want to become engineers in every field and make them role models of their professions. " said.

The “Engineer Girls of Turkey” Project, which was initiated under the leadership of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, United Nations Development Program Turkey Office (UNDP) and Limak Foundation, was completed on 31 December 2021.

According to the impact report of the project, which is carried out to support the education of female students who are or will receive engineering education in many ways, while female students' interest in engineering increased, the second phase of the "Engineer Girls of Turkey" Project started in January, upon the positive results obtained by the Ministry and project stakeholders.

Female students in chemical engineering were also included in the program.

In the first phase of the project, which consists of two separate programs for high school and university female students, students from civil, environmental, industrial, mechanical, electrical/electronic and computer engineering departments of state universities benefited from the program. In the second phase, female students in chemical engineering were also included in the program.

In the High School Program, in the first phase, various awareness-raising activities were carried out for the students studying in the 10th and 11th grades in the most successful Science and Anatolian High Schools, as well as teachers, school administrators and parents. The face-to-face activities in the first phase will continue online in the second phase.

Minister Derya Yanık stated that they give priority to projects and activities that will reveal the potential of women and girls and make it possible for them to realize their dreams, and said, “Our Honorable President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan approached the education of our girls with great sensitivity and pioneered our work. As the Ministry, we aim to transform the 'Engineer Girls of Turkey Project', which we initiated to support the participation of girls in the engineering profession, into a sustainable platform.”

Noting that one of the professional fields with the lowest female participation is engineering, Minister Yanık said, "As in the first phase, we aim to increase the awareness of female students in the second phase, to include more female engineers in business life, and to support female students who want to be engineers in every field, and to become role models of their professions." .
