Gürer's Question on 'Alternative Transportation on Railways' Left Unanswered

CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer submitted a written question to the Ministry regarding the request of the Ministry of Transport to explain at what stage the plan to open rail passenger transportation to alternative train businesses is. Answering Gürer's proposal, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu talked about the efforts to increase the share of rail freight transportation, but left the questions in the proposal unanswered.

The Republican People's Party (CHP) Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer asked the following questions in the written parliamentary question submitted by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismaioğlu:

  • At what stage is the work of opening the public service obligations in railway passenger transportation to alternative businesses to be determined by tender, which is included in the 2022 performance program (draft) booklet of your Ministry?
  • Have any feasibility studies been conducted on the positive or negative reflections of the opening of railway passenger transportation services to alternative train operators in terms of service quality and costs in free market conditions?
  • The fact that alternative train operators will serve in railway passenger transportation will make it difficult to monitor and control in terms of passenger and railway safety; Have necessary studies been carried out to increase the possibility of accidents with loss of life and property?
  • When is the planned date for the opening of rail passenger transport to alternative train businesses?

Responding to the parliamentary question of CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer, Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu left most of the questions in the motion unanswered. Minister Karaismailoğlu left the questions in the proposal unanswered by making a statement as follows: "The projects planned to increase the share of railway freight transport are planned to be carried out by taking them into the program in line with the objectives of the 11th Development Plan, the Transport and Communications Council targets and the annual programs of the Presidency".
