2022 units of the Jet Training and Light Attack Aircraft HÜRJET, which is aimed to leave the hangar and start ground tests in 16, will be produced. In January 2022, at the Defense Industry Executive Committee Meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the first stage mass production decision of HURJET, which was planned to make its maiden flight in 2023, was taken. Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil was the guest of the "Gengenda Special" broadcast in A Haber. Speaking about the HURJET project, Kotil shared the information that 16 units will be procured in the first stage of the Jet Training and Light Attack Aircraft HURJET. In his speech, Kotil said, “Light attack and jet training aircraft. It has a jet engine inside. It flies 40 percent louder. We put this before the National Combatant. Our state has ordered 16 of these. Turkey needs this type of aircraft. Both training and attack aircraft. This carries about 1 ton of explosives. It flies faster than sound and is economical. It is very economical compared to the F-16. It has a place in the world market. It will fly in 2023. This is a supersonic airplane.” made statements.

In the past, HÜRJET announced that it would start ground tests at the beginning of 2022. Noting that the first flight will be carried out in 2022 following the ground tests, Kotil announced on March 18, 2023 that HÜRJET will perform a more mature flight. Saying that the first jet trainer will be delivered to the Air Force Command in 2025, Kotil stated that the work on the armed version (HÜRJET-C) could continue until 2027. Within the scope of the project, it is planned to produce two flyable prototype aircraft and one static and one fatigue test aircraft to be used in test activities.

HÜRJET Jet Training and Light Attack Aircraft

HÜRJET will be designed to operate at a maximum speed of Mach 1.2 and a maximum altitude of 45,000 ft, and will house the latest technology mission and flight systems. HÜRJET's Light Attack Aircraft model with a payload capacity of 2721 kg will be armed to be used in missions such as light attack, close air support, border security, and fight against terrorism in the armed forces of friendly and allied countries together with our country.

In the conceptual design phase of the project, which is still ongoing, single engine and double engine alternatives will be evaluated in the light of the market analysis, and the number of engines will be decided and conceptual design studies will be carried out accordingly. System solutions will be created by contacting suppliers regarding long-term systems.
