The Metropolitan Municipality, which will implement lithium battery electric buses for the first time in Turkey, in Samsun, carries out the works meticulously from the installation of the charging stations to the routes. 20 of the 15 electric buses to be purchased in total will arrive in April. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which signed the Contract for Electric Bus and Charging Systems with Ultra-Fast Charging Feature last year with the participation of the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, is a collective effort that eliminates the exhaust gas, contributes greatly to environmental cleanliness, and reduces operating costs with fuel savings, with the project it will implement. into the transport system. The buses, which have a range of 80 kilometers with the batteries that meet the necessary standards against combustion and explosion, will also reduce carbon emissions and noise pollution. The countdown has now begun for Avenue EV, the first 100 percent domestic electric buses of the Turkish automotive industry, developed in cooperation with ASELSAN and TEMSA. 20 of the 15 electric buses to be purchased in total will start to serve on Samsun roads in April.

6 OF 3 ULTRA CHARGING STATIONS ARE COMPLETED

Kadir Gürkan, Head of Transportation Department of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, who gave information about the electric buses to be used in TEKNOFEST, said, “We have completed the purchase of electric buses with Turkish software. 20 of the 15 electric buses will arrive in April. The remaining 5 electric buses are planned to be in Samsun in November. 6 ultra-fast charging stations were built. Ultra-fast charging stations at Taflan, Soğuksu and Çarşamba Airports have been completed. Work continues to complete the charging stations at the Bus Terminal, Public Transportation Transfer Center and Ballica Campus. The charging stations to be built will also be the first because they are ultra-fast. Electric buses will be charged in 10 minutes at ultra-fast charging stations.

FUTURE GENERATIONS WILL BE COMFORTABLE

Emphasizing that the projects have been implemented in a way that will not make future generations work again, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said:

“The electric bus project will be implemented for the first time in Samsun. In the near future, we will put these buses into service in all public transportation. We aim to return not only buses, but also city minibuses and all inter-district transportation to this system. Our aim is to realize a safe, environmentally friendly, and very low operating cost public transportation network in Samsun. It is very important that it will be used in Samsun for the first time. This technology, which Turkey will start using in the near future, together with the Ministry of Industry and Technology, ASELSAN and the Metropolitan Municipality, will add significant value to our city. Electric buses that will serve Samsun residents are advantageous in many respects compared to existing buses. Environmentally friendly, economical, quiet and comfortable. Our aim is to bring a safe, environmentally friendly and economical public transportation network to Samsun.”
