Ankara Metropolitan Municipality added a new one to its 'student-friendly' applications. The Metropolitan Municipality, which has implemented practices that prioritize life safety in the city, has now started a "reflective sticker" application to ensure that students are noticed in traffic with the slogan "Safe Ankara Safe Pedestrian" with the opening of schools.

Announcing the launch of the new application via video sharing on his social media accounts, ABB President Mansur Yavaş said, “Unfortunately, our children go to school and return to their homes at night due to the fixed clock application. We started to distribute free reflective bag stickers to our children against accidents that may occur in the dark.”

WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO ALL SCHOOLS

With the application initiated by the Ankara Police, the free reflective sticker will be distributed to all schools throughout the city.
Stating that they took this decision after the students commuting to school in the morning and evening in the dark caused accidents, Metropolitan Municipality Police Department Head Mustafa Koç gave the following information about the application:

“We will distribute these stickers to our students by the police teams in all schools across the capital. As you know, due to the advanced time system, our children go to schools, especially to schools with dual education, before dawn in the morning and after dark in the evening. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we wanted to put reflective warning signs on the back of their bags to make our children visible in traffic. Today, as the Metropolitan Police, we welcomed our students with this reflector at the entrance of many schools in Ankara. We inform the parents and warn our students. We believe it will benefit students as they commute in the dark. We will continue to do our best for them to come and go to the safe school.”

PARENTS AND STUDENTS ARE SATISFIED WITH THE APPLICATION

Parents as well as students who stick the stickers on their bags expressed their satisfaction with the application with the following words:

  • Mahur Power: (Parent) “When we come to school, it gets dark. Unfortunately, cars don't notice students. This application, which was made both to raise awareness and to make children noticeable in traffic, was very well thought out.”
  • Busra Karatas: “Drivers do not see us in traffic. These labels can help drivers see us.”
  • Reyna Akac: “Since we get up early in the morning, the stickers will be noticeable. Maybe it will reduce the risk of accidents in traffic even more.”
  • Enes Bayram Keskin: “Vehicles may have trouble seeing us on the way to school in the dark. I'm glad they thought of our health and put on these reflective warnings, thank you.”
  • Eymen Tugrul Gokhan: “They used yellow and black on the label, drivers can easily spot us in the dark.”
