Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer announced that they have shared their 180-page book on more than 50 education projects and policies implemented in 120 days in the process of returning to face-to-face education, on the internet address “meb.gov.tr”, with the public as of today.

Noting that they continue to monitor and evaluate education in order to maintain the quality of the education system and shape education policies for the future, Özer continued as follows:

“As of today, we are sharing the 180-page book we have compiled on more than 50 education projects and policies implemented in 120 days in the process of returning to face-to-face education, on the internet address 'meb.gov.tr'. The book includes projects and policies that we implemented in 180 days, from expanding pre-school education to strengthening vocational education, from improving lifelong learning activities to increasing teachers' professional development.

In the book, the process of returning to face-to-face education, increasing equality of opportunity in education, expanding pre-school education, strengthening vocational education, professional development of teachers, improving special education and guidance activities, enriching non-formal education and lifelong education activities, environment and climate friendly schools, global business in education There are more than 20 studies that we have implemented under 10 main headings, including associations, 50th National Education Council.”

Özer stated that steps were taken in line with the decisions taken in the 20th National Education Council and said, “At the end of the report, it can be observed to what extent council decisions are included in practice. Pointing out that in this process, it was once again understood that schools are the most important places where students' psychological, social, emotional and personal development is ensured, Özer said, "We are pleased that we have not inflicted any more learning losses on our students at this stage. Our rate of teachers with a double dose of vaccine or antibodies increased to 95 percent. The budget allocated by our Ministry to ensure hygiene in schools has reached 722 million liras. With the electronic tracking system established by the Ministry of National Education, we can monitor the epidemic process digitally with one click.” said.

Ozer; He explained that they are working to increase equality of opportunity in education, that 59 kindergartens and 6 new kindergarten classes have started education in this process, and that the schooling rate for the 950-year-old group has reached 5 percent from 180 percent in 78 days.

According to the book, which includes more than 10 studies of the Ministry on 50 subjects, various measures were taken in schools according to the epidemic conditions in the return to face-to-face education, which started on September 6th.

Auxiliary resources developed within the Ministry of National Education have been opened to access.

Contribution of vocational education institutions to the process

Vocational education institutions produced the cleaning and hygiene materials needed by schools in the process of returning to face-to-face education, and contributed to the economy by exporting these products.

Collaborations with sector representatives to strengthen vocational education were continued and Turkey's first media high school and first mining high school were opened.

The capacity of vocational training centers was increased. In this context, vocational training centers were put into operation in all organized industrial zones.

With the regulation made in the Vocational Education Law No. 3308, 30 percent of the minimum wage for apprentices, 50 percent of the minimum wage for journeymen, and insurance against work accidents and occupational diseases were introduced. The number of students, which was 159 thousand before this regulation, which is planned to contribute to youth employment, increased to 335 thousand after the regulation.

Steps for the professional development of teachers

The Teacher Informatics Network (ÖBA) was launched on January 24, 2022, where teachers working in educational institutions of all degrees and types affiliated to the Ministry can receive professional development training and access rich content.

Distance in-service training activities were organized during the semester break for teachers working in all degrees and types of education institutions affiliated to the Ministry.

Teaching defined as a specialized profession

With the enactment of the Teaching Profession Law, teaching was defined as “a specialty profession that undertakes education and training and related management duties”.

The eight-term requirement for open education high school students aged 18 and over to complete their education has been reduced to five terms.

In order to strengthen the production capacity of the maturation institutes and expand the product range, the Ministry started the process of transforming the institutes into R&D centers on September 14, 2021. In line with this aim, approximately 6 million Turkish Liras of initial support was provided to the institutes.

At the end of a period of about four months, design registration applications were made for 7 thousand 482 products from the institutes, and a record level was reached in this field by obtaining the design registration of 6 thousand 830 products from the applications.
