The Ministry of National Education continues to take quick steps to popularize pre-school education. Planning to build 2022 new kindergartens and 3 new nursery classes by the end of 40, the Ministry quickly started to implement its plan. The Ministry of National Education, which has opened 59 new kindergartens and 86 thousand 6 new kindergartens with international projects, together with 950 kindergartens whose construction was completed within the scope of the project, increased the schooling rate in the 5-year-old group from 78 percent to 90 percent in a short time.

While the Ministry of National Education completed the tender for the construction of 216 new kindergartens in order to achieve its goals, 1.807 kindergartens whose plots were determined were included in the investment plan. The tender preparations for these kindergartens, which are included in the investment plan, continue. 165 of the kindergartens for which tender preparations continue are planned as special education kindergartens. Thus, the number of kindergartens that were put into service after the project, whose tenders were completed and included in the investment plan, increased to 2.

The highest number of kindergartens go to Istanbul, Gaziantep and Diyarbakir.

138 of the kindergartens, the planning of which has been completed and the tender process continues, will be built in Gaziantep. It follows Gaziantep with Istanbul 112, Diyarbakır 101, Şanlıurfa 81, Ankara 79, Bursa 74, Antalya 61, Adana 49, Adıyaman 44 and Van 43 kindergartens.

The Ministry of National Education did not forget about special children in accessing pre-school education. As part of its efforts to expand special education kindergartens to all provinces, it increased the number of 2019 special education kindergartens in 28 provinces in 52 to 2021 in 81 provinces by the end of 112. The Ministry of National Education opened 23 special education kindergartens this year, thus increasing the number of special education kindergartens to 135. The Ministry has included 2022 new special education kindergartens in its investment program to increase access to special education kindergartens in 165. Thus, by the end of 2022, the number of special education kindergartens will increase to 300.

In his evaluation on the subject, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that they are making great efforts to increase access to pre-school education in all provinces and that all studies are progressing according to the schedule.

Emphasizing that they want to expand access to pre-school education in order to increase equal opportunities in education, Minister Özer said:

“By the end of 2022, we will build 3 new kindergartens and 40 new nursery classes. We made the necessary investment and budget plans. We started and are carrying out the project with the patronage and support of Ms. Emine Erdoğan. As a first step, we started the construction of 12 new kindergartens, each with 100 classrooms, in Istanbul. Within the scope of the project, we have opened 86 new kindergartens and 6 new kindergarten classes so far. We have completed the tender for the construction of 950 new kindergartens. We included 216 kindergartens whose plots were determined into the investment plan. Tender preparations continue for these kindergartens included in the investment plan. At the end of all these investments, the schooling rate, which was 3 percent in the 891-year-old group, increased to 3 percent; We will easily be able to increase the schooling rate from 14 percent in the 50-year-old group to 4 percent, and from 35 percent in the 70-year-old group to 5 percent. Currently, we have increased the enrollment rate in the 78-year-old group from 100 percent to 5 percent. With this giant leap towards pre-school, our country will ensure universalization in education at all levels, from pre-school to secondary education.”
