IMM WiFi, which provides free internet service at 8.740 points in Istanbul, has reached 4,6 million subscribers and 120 thousand daily usage. The service, whose quality has been increased with its strengthened infrastructure, is preferred by Istanbulites as well as foreign guests. The free internet service offered by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Information Processing Department and IMM subsidiary ISTTELKOM is spreading throughout Istanbul. İBB WiFi was installed in 2021 at a total of 850 new access points, mainly on the metro, village square and City Lines ferries. High-capacity and fast WiFi 369 technology was used in 6 of these locations. IMM aims to expand IMM WiFi throughout the city, especially in public spaces, so that more people can access free internet.
MOST USED BY STUDENTS
A quality and safe communication experience is offered with IMM WIFI, which is provided in public transportation vehicles, squares, parks, piers, libraries, cultural centers, sports facilities and touristic social areas where people are concentrated. In order to benefit from the free internet service, it is sufficient for the users to connect to the İBB WiFi wireless network from their internet points with a smart phone, tablet or laptop computer. IMM WiFi service is mostly used by students throughout Istanbul.
RUSSIANS AND GERMANS ARE MOST CONNECTED
Among the foreign visitors using IMM WiFi; Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, England, USA, Netherlands, Azerbaijan and Tunisia come first.
THE MOST CONNECTION IS ON İstiklal Avenue
The locations with the most free internet connection are Beyoğlu Istiklal Caddesi, Mecidiyeköy, Kadıköy, Taksim, Eminönü and Sultanahmet Square and Yenikapı – Hacıosman Metro Line.
30GB MONTHLY FREE INTERNET
In IMM WiFi, which currently serves at 8.740 access points; users are offered daily 2 megabit speed, 1 gigabyte quota and a monthly total of 30 GB free internet service. A monthly average of 120 terabytes of download (download) and 270 terabytes of upload (upload) are used on IMM WiFi, which receives service from approximately 30 thousand users per day.
