Free Shipping Service Started for University Students Who Will Move Houses in Izmir

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has implemented a new application for university students affected by the economic crisis. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which provides support to university students in every field, especially in housing support, education aid and food, has now started free transportation service to students living in Izmir and moving house. Since January 22, 60 students applied for transportation support by contacting the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Citizen Communication Center.

The teams affiliated to the Social Services Department started the transportation support by making social examinations of the students. Students who want to apply should call 444 40 35.

Soyer: “We will continue to support”

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer Stating that the increasingly difficult life conditions are hurting the students, he said, “We are with our young people in every condition and in every subject. We do everything we can, from shelter to cash aid and food support. In this context, we also started the free shipping service for our students who will move house. All of our students in need can benefit from our service, which includes vehicle and driver support.”

Izmir embraces young people

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality started the project “Izmir Embraces Young People” for university students who have housing problems. Housing support was provided to 440 students within the scope of the project. At the same time, the Metropolitan Municipality has started work on a student dormitory with a capacity of 3 beds, which will include a library, art workshops, conference and gymnasium in Bornova Evka-835.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which started to provide education support of 5 TL for the children of university students to 547 families in need residing in Izmir, invested a portion of 3 TL of this support.

Metropolitan, Ege University, Dokuz Eylul University (DEU), Izmir Institute of Technology (IYTE) and Katip Celebi University continue to deliver hot meals to 3 students a day, and hot soup at six different Soup Stations.
