Few days left until February 14, Valentine's Day. This year, Turkey's overall turnover expectation in e-commerce is 30 billion TL. The perception of value of the Z generation also transforms the concept of gift. Donation and planting certificates can now be presented as gifts.

Few days left until February 14, Valentine's Day. E-commerce sales started to increase a week before this special day. Expressing that the sales of e-commerce sites had increased by an average of 60 percent compared to the previous week before Valentine's Day, TOBB E-commerce Council Member, Ticimax E-commerce Systems Founder Cenk Çiğdemli said that online spending reached 14 billion TL for the period of February 30 across Turkey. He said they were waiting. Çiğdemli said, “The volume of the Economy of Love was 10-15 billion TL last year. This year, we expect this figure to double, with increases in categories such as travel, flights, hotels, and car rentals. We think that Turkey's total online shopping turnover will reach 30 billion TL," he said.

“Generation Z's perception of value also changes gifts”

Stating that experience-oriented gifts such as event tickets, courses, holidays, hobby trainings, SPA and hotel reservations have been on the rise in recent years, Çiğdemli said: Mobility is very high in the categories of perfume, clothing, toys, automobile accessories, technological products, hobby products, toys, collectibles and underwear. Chocolate and flower sales will also be active on February 14th. In addition, the differences in the value perception of the Z generation are also reflected in their gift choices. For example, social responsibility expenses such as donating to associations or NGOs and planting saplings on behalf of loved ones can now be presented as gifts. For example, a certificate such as 'A sapling has been donated on your behalf' can be framed and given as a gift. Products and services for sustainability also come to the fore.”
