Competing in the women's freestyle ski event of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Chinese athlete Gu Ailing won the gold medal by creating a miracle the previous day. It was the Chinese team's first Olympic gold medal in women's freestyle skiing. In the free skiing category, which is a very difficult and dangerous style, many athletes may experience injuries during training and races. Experts in traditional Chinese medicine are behind Gu Ailing, who wrote the history of ice and snow in China.

Gu Ailing, who attracted the attention of the whole world after the medal and is the face of many brands, suffered from a backache during a training session in 2019. He was taken by his mother to Dong Liangjie, an orthopedic doctor from the Chinese Medicine Hospital in Henan Province. Dong Liangjie massaged Gu Ailing using the Shaolin bone setting method in traditional Chinese medicine. The talented young woman who was treated, Gu said, “My lower back has never been this relaxed, it's like a vertebra had been replaced!” she expressed her astonishment.

Bone setting in Traditional Chinese Medicine is a type of therapy used to accurately reset the displaced broken end and treat soft tissue injury by skilled manipulation. Doctor Dong also gave Gu Ailing some rehabilitation advice at that time. Accordingly, in addition to traditional methods, traditional Chinese martial arts such as Baduanjin and Yijinjing were practiced to improve coordination and cooperation of the limbs.

Dong Liangjie has been hired as the doctor of the 2022 Winter Olympics national team to provide medical support to the Winter Olympics Ski Slopestyle, Freestyle Ski Big Air and Double Board U-Slot National Training Teams.

During the preparation period for the Winter Olympics, Dong Traditional Chinese Medicine combined the diagnosis and treatment of bone disease, trauma with sports medicine, sports nutrition and sports psychology, accompanying the players to countries such as Japan and New Zealand. Dong Liangjie also learned to ski under the guidance of the coach.
