The traffic flow will change on Nazım Hikmet Ran Boulevard as part of the Çiğli Tram Line works under construction by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. The section of the boulevard leading to the Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone will be closed to traffic as of tomorrow (February 16, 2022). Traffic flow will be provided in both directions, coming and going from the opposite lane.

As part of the construction of the Çiğli Tram Line, the traffic flow will change due to the rail laying works on Nazım Hikmet Ran Boulevard. Before the works, which are planned to last for 4 months, the section of the boulevard that goes to Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone will be closed to traffic as of tomorrow (February 16, 2022). With the closure of this section of the boulevard, which serves as double arrivals and double departures, the traffic flow will be provided from the opposite lane as one arrival and one departure in both directions. When the works on the opposite side of the road are completed, two lanes of traffic flow will be restored on both sides of the central median. The boulevard will have a brand new look by making landscaping.

The trees will be planted when the tram arrives

Due to the rail laying works, the trees in the middle median will be removed in accordance with the technique and taken to the nursery of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in Buca. The trees that will be kept alive by being maintained here will be planted in suitable places around the line once the works are finished. Extra afforestation will be made in line with landscaping regulations.

The manufacturing works on the Çiğli Tramway line, the foundation of which was laid in February last year, reached the level of 43 percent in a short time. While a contract was signed for the purchase of 26 electric tram vehicles to be used on the Çiğli Tram, the investment amount for these vehicles was 750 million TL. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality's total investment in Çiğli Tramway will reach 1 billion 250 million liras. After the completion of the tram line, which will consist of 11 kilometers and 14 stations, at the end of 2022, it is planned to start test drives. Cigli Tramway; It will breathe life into the region, relieve traffic, and facilitate access to hospitals, universities and industry in the region.

Tram lines increase to 33,6 kilometers

Karşıyaka The line, which will start from Cevreyolu Station, will be connected to Çiğli İstasyonaltı Mahallesi with the connection bridge. Approximately 500 meters of connecting bridge will cross the ring road and there will be pedestrian and bicycle paths as well as the tram line on the bridge. Most of the route was planned as a double line, passing through the middle medians of the existing streets and roads. Line route Karşıyaka Cevreyolu Station is planned to serve Ataşehir, Çiğli İstasyonaltı Mahallesi, Çiğli İZBAN Station, Çiğli Regional Training Hospital, Ata Industrial Zone, Katip Çelebi University and Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone. also Karşıyaka During the construction of the tram, the Ataşehir-Mavişehir İZBAN connection, which cannot be made due to property problems, will be made within the framework of the construction of this line. After the start of the line, the length of the tram lines in Izmir Konak and Karşıyaka It will reach 33,6 kilometers.
