China Wins $2,7 Billion Rail Tender in the Philippines

A joint venture between the Philippine Ministry of Transport (DOTr) and Chinese companies has signed a $2,76 billion (PHP 142 billion) contract for the PNR Bicol Railway Project (South Long Distance Project).

This was reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to the China Railway Group.

China Railway Group, China Railway No. The CREC joint venture of 3 Engineering Group and China Railway Engineering Consulting Group will be responsible for the design, construction and electromechanical works of the first 380 km of the line from Banlic, Calamba to Daraga.

The project will also include the construction of 23 stations, 230 bridges, 10 passenger tunnels and a 70-hectare warehouse in San Pablo, Laguna.

Implemented by DOTr and the Philippine National Railways (PNR), the project will consist of a 565 km rail system connecting the Manila metropolitan area to the southern Luzon states of Sorsogon and Batangas.
