Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu underlined that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge is a historical message of the new Turkey and said, “1915 Çanakkale Bridge; It is an indication that the new Turkey, which is working diligently to enter the world's top 10 economies, is at the last turning point on this road. It is a badge that will show the whole world the distance Turkey has taken since the Çanakkale Naval Victory on March 18, 1915. "The one that has grown despite the pandemic and broke the record of the Republic in exports is a seal of a fully independent Turkey with its vision of 2053, not tomorrow," he said.

Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, examined the 26 Çanakkale Bridge, which will be opened on February 1915. Karaismailoğlu, who was walking across the bridge with the youth, made a press statement afterward and said, “Every time we come to Çanakkale, we also come to the spiritual presence of our saintly martyrs in order not to drop the crescent to the ground. With their tremendous heroism in the war, they taught the whole world, Turkey's enemies something; 'Çanakkale cannot be passed...' Because Çanakkale will never be passed for the enemy. However, when it comes to friendship, brotherhood, production, trade, tourism and employment, it will be possible to cross from one side of the Dardanelles to the other with a comfortable journey of only 6 minutes.”

WE ARE LOOKING AT HISTORY

Karaismailoğlu stated that they walked on the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which connected the continents of Asia and Europe for the first time in the Dardanelles, and passed uninterruptedly from Asia to Europe, witnessing historical moments.

“We are successfully completing one of the most important transportation projects in the history of the Republic of Turkey, such as Marmaray, Istanbul Airport, Eurasia Tunnel, Yavuz Sultan Selim and Osmangazi Bridges, and we are making a mark on history. A week later, on February 26, 2022, with the honor of our President, we will present our bridge to the service of our beloved nation and the world. With the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway and the 2 Çanakkale Bridge with an investment value of 545 billion 1915 million Euros, we are bringing together the people of Çanakkale and our entire nation with a work worthy of its glorious history and the 21st century. 1915 Çanakkale Bridge is included in the 89 kilometers long Malkara-Çanakkale Highway, 12 kilometers of which is highway and 101 kilometers of connection roads. This unique project, which we built by working day and night with approximately 5 personnel and 100 construction machines, is a project that ranks first in the world in its field, with a crossing length of 740 meters with the sum of its central and side openings and approach viaducts. The 4-meter middle span of the bridge symbolizes the 608th anniversary of our Republic, and its 2023-meter steel towers symbolize the 100 March 318, when the Çanakkale Naval Victory was won. The red and white color of the towers represents our 'red flag'. It is the longest mid-span suspension bridge in the world with a middle span of 18 meters.”

OUR 1915 ÇANAKKALE BRIDGE IS THE PROJECT OF THE “MOST”

Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport, said, “With its height above sea level, the figure of the 16-meter cannonball that Seyit Onbaşı carries on his back and the figure of the 334-meter cannonball that changed the fate of the war, and the tower height reaching 2 meters, our bridge will be a suspension bridge with the highest towers in the world.” He said that it has the distinction of being one of the rare suspension bridges designed as twin decks. Karaismailoğlu, who stated that it will go down in history as the first bridge designed and built as a twin deck over a middle span of 162 thousand meters in the world, also shared the information that is among the "best" of the bridge. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu said, “With the total wire length of 4 thousand kilometers used in the main cable of our bridge, the circumference of the world can be turned 1 times. When tower caissons are compared in terms of area, they are the size of 227 football field. With 100 thousand cubic meters of concrete used in the bridge, 5 thousand 900 apartments of 25 square meters, that is, a district with a population of 177 thousand can be established. With 177 thousand tons of steel used in the bridge, 155 thousand passenger cars can be produced. In addition, during the placement of the upper link beam of the bridge towers, the largest heavy lifting operation in the world was carried out, based on the weight of 318 tons and the height of 1915 meters. Well; Our XNUMX Çanakkale Bridge is the project of the 'most's. It will literally seal the Dardanelles and become one of the landmarks of our country.”

516 thousand 863 seedlings were planted

In project scope; Karaismailoğlu stated that they have built a suspension bridge, 2 approach viaducts, 2 reinforced concrete viaducts, 6 hydraulic bridges, 6 underpass bridges, 43 overpasses, 40 underpasses and 236 culverts. He said that they have completed the work in 12 maintenance operation centers, namely the Main Control Center and the Maintenance Operation Center. Pointing out that 4 thousand 5 saplings were planted within the scope of landscaping works, Karaismailoğlu said, “In addition, within the scope of traffic safety studies; We also installed 2 thousand 516 lighting poles, 863 thousand 2 square meters of vertical plate installation, 557 thousand square meters of horizontal markings, 6 kilometers of guardrails, 360 kilometers of wire fence and 167 kilometers of pedestrian guardrails. Within the scope of Intelligent Transportation Systems, we have established a 411 thousand 196 meters long Fiber Optic Communication Infrastructure.”

IT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL TOURISM

Emphasizing that transportation is an indispensable factor for the development of production, trade and tourism activities, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows:

“The contribution of the highway investments made between 2003 and 2020 under the responsibility of our Ministry to the Gross National Product of our country has exceeded 109 billion 250 million liras in total. In addition to this contribution, which is over 6 billion 69 million liras annually, its total contribution to production has exceeded 237 billion 539 million liras. This means a contribution of more than 13 billion 197 million liras per year in production. That's why investments in highways are like rivers. He brings work, food and prosperity wherever he goes and in every geography he reaches. Just like the new project of the New Turkey, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway, new investment and employment opportunities that will bring to Çanakkale and the region. Before our project was opened, the need for the new Organized Industrial Zones of the region increased significantly. The project that will contribute greatly to the development of national and international tourism; After passing from the south of Malkara settlement, west of Şarköy district, it turns southwest and reaches the Gelibolu Peninsula from the east of Evreşe district, and reaches Şekerkaya locality in Lapseki district via the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which is located between Sütlüce-Şekerkaya locations, passing through the north of Gallipoli. Our project will ensure the integration of ports, railway and air transportation systems in the Marmara and Aegean regions, where a significant part of the population lives, with road transportation projects. It provides the opportunity for economic development and the establishment of a balanced planning and structuring required by the industry in these regions. Cultural interaction, as well as commercial relations with European countries, the Balkans, and especially Greece and Bulgaria, will lead to positive progress.

Karaismailoğlu noted that the distance between tourism centers such as İzmir, Aydın and Antalya will shorten with the connection of the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway to the Gebze-İzmir Highway in the vicinity of Balıkesir. He stated that he will transform it into a center of attraction, thus improving business tourism.

HIGHWAY INTEGRATION TO BE COMPLETED IN WEST OF TURKEY

Karaismailoğlu stated that the vehicle traffic coming from Edirne and Kapıkule and from these regions was distributed to Çanakkale and the Aegean Region via Osmangazi Bridge, and made the following assessments:

“With this project, the attraction of the region will increase as the vehicle traffic in question passes through Çanakkale. With the commissioning of the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway project, the existing divided route will be shortened by approximately 40 kilometers compared to the state road. At the same time, considering the time losses in crossing by ferry, a faster passage through the Dardanelles will shorten the travel time. With our project, the passage through the Dardanelles Strait, which takes about 60 minutes by ferry, but can take hours, and finds hours due to the crossings that are sometimes closed depending on the weather, will be reduced to only 6 minutes. With the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, highway integration in western Turkey will be completed. The rings of the highway chain surrounding the Marmara will be united, there will be a direct connection between Europe and Turkey's western and southern regions, and it will accelerate the development in these regions. Our project, which is a new work of AK Party governments that carries forward the legacy left to us by our ancestors, represents a strong respect for this legacy, and implemented projects that connect Turkey to the world since 2003, is a historical message from the New Turkey. 1915 Çanakkale Bridge; It is an indication that the new Turkey, which is working diligently to enter the world's top 10 economies, is at the last turning point on this road. It is a badge that will show the whole world the distance Turkey has taken since the Çanakkale Naval Victory on March 18, 1915. Growing despite the pandemic and breaking the record of the Republic in exports, it is a seal of a fully independent Turkey with a vision of 2053, not tomorrow.”

IT WILL BE A UNIQUE MONUMENT CARRYING THE MEMORY OF OUR STATE MARTYRS

"The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge will be a unique monument that will carry the memory of our saintly martyrs in its bosom, beyond being just a bridge," said Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu. It will be one of Turkey's most beautiful and accurate works of art," he said. Contributing to one of the most important elements of the vision for the future, Turkey's competitiveness and raising the society's quality of life; Explaining that his aim is to create a safe, economical, comfortable, environmentally friendly, uninterrupted, balanced and sustainable transportation system, Karaismailoğlu said that within this framework, he further clarified the picture of Turkey, which is aimed to be seen in the future.
