1915 Çanakkale Bridge Toll Fee Announced

1915 Çanakkale Bridge is being completed in 10 days. The toll from the project, which was completed in record time and cost 3.1 billion euros, was announced as 15 euros.

The bridge, whose foundation was laid by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on March 18, 2017, is getting ready to open on February 26.

According to the article by Dilek Güngör from Sabah, Ebru Özdemir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of LİMAK Holding, stated that the works on the bridge were almost completed and that preparations were made to open it on February 26. Özdemir said, “We wrote a letter to South Korea. The Prime Minister will come. We are waiting for a date from the Presidency,” he said.

Özdemir said that they exceeded the figures they initially anticipated due to Kovid, disruptions in the supply chain and rising costs, and said, “The cost of the project would be 3 billion euros. This figure will exceed 3.1 billion euros. 2.2 billion of this is loans, as partners we initially put 900 million euros. However, there is currently an additional 300 million euros in cost. We will pay this as 4 partners. Let me also say this, whoever it was, could not have built this highway and bridge for less than 3.1 billion euros. I am that ambitious,” he said.

TOLL

What about the fee? The current figure is 15 euros. However, Ebru Özdemir gave the message that there is a re-work on this issue and said: “The figure to be determined should not be less than the operating expenses. We are working, the money received goes to the loan payment. The Build-Operate-Transfer model is widely discussed in Turkey. But in this way, the work is done both with high quality and in a short time. So there is no problem with the model. Due to the sudden devaluation, tolls seem expensive.”
