President Büyükakın: We Will Relieve the Traffic of Maşukiye Junction

Marmara Municipalities Union and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Assoc. Dr. Tahir Büyükakın conducted an on-site inspection for traffic regulation in the Maşukiye region, where tourism activities are intense and traffic jams are experienced throughout the year, especially in the winter months. Mayor of Kartepe Mustafa Kocaman and AK Party District President Sadık Yılmaz, who gave the order to work at the intersection that closely concerns the Maşukiye region, said, "With this intersection arrangement we will make in the center of Maşukiye, we will also make improvements in traffic relief and parking. TARGETED TO PREVENT TRAFFIC SAFETY PROBLEMS

President Büyükakın, who carried out an investigation on Mehmet Akif Ersoy Street, which provides access to the summit of Kartepe, tourism facilities and the ski center, received information on the details of the project to be made in order to prevent heavy traffic in the commercial enterprises in the Maşukiye region. With the new regulations to be made in the region, it is aimed to eliminate the access problems experienced in a congested service area, to solve the parking problem caused by irregular and dense parking, and to prevent traffic safety problems on the main road.

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Associate Prof. Dr. Tahir Büyükakın, who met with the tradesmen in the region together with the Head of Transportation Department Ahmet Çelebi and the technical team, said, “We will create left turn pockets where left-turning vehicles can safely wait in order to ensure traffic safety on the main road. We also aim to prevent intersections by separating the intersection points that will provide entrances and exits to Mehmet Akif Ersoy Street. Large parking areas will be created to receive service from Mehmet Akif Ersoy Street, and at the same time, we will create roadside parking pockets for short-term parking.
