The loss of life rises as the Guwahati-Bikaner train derails near the town of Domohani in India's West Bengal state. Ministry of Railway Sözcüsü Rajiv Jain announced that the number of people who lost their lives in the accident that occurred near the New Domohani train station increased to 9, while the number of injured increased to 37, and the condition of six of them was critical. Stating that the rescue efforts initiated after the accident were completed, Jain said that the road was cleared for the continuation of train services in the region.
Indian Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in his assessment at the crash site, "Preliminary investigation shows that there is a malfunction in the locomotive equipment."
