The Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) has increased its measures against snowfall, which is expected to be effective throughout the country. TCDD, which has eight regional directorates and a crisis desk in the center, will struggle not to disrupt the train traffic on the railways with 623 technical vehicles. TCDD also provided an additional 500 personnel to the railway maintenance teams during the winter works.

TCDD, under the coordination of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and in line with the information it received from the General Directorate of Meteorology, alerted all its teams for winter work. TCDD, which was alarmed in order not to experience any disruption in railway transportation due to heavy snowfall, which is expected to be effective throughout the country, created a crisis desk in 8 regional directorates and the center. TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş determined the working strategies of the teams in case of heavy snowfall in the video conference meeting he held with the managers of 8 regions.

Measures have been increased so that passenger and freight trains and especially export trains can complete their voyages without interruption in difficult weather conditions. Snow shoveling and icing prevention works will be carried out with reinforcement teams on the 12 kilometer railway line. During the winter works, 803 additional personnel will be assigned to the railway maintenance teams against snow and icing.

Snow plows and spare locomotives will be kept ready at critical points, and solutions against icing will be worked on. Signaling maintenance teams will work on a 24-hour basis to avoid disruption in the traffic operating system. The assigned teams will clean and check the scissors to prevent freezing. By increasing the teams in the substations, energy cuts will be prevented. For snow plows on the railways, 16 plow vehicles, 65 railway vehicles, 48 ​​catenary maintenance vehicles, 73 road maintenance vehicles, 71 repair and maintenance vehicles, 350 highway transportation-signaling maintenance vehicles will travel 24 hours a day to clear the snow accumulated in the form of precipitation and exile on the roads.
