Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which has signed projects that prioritize public health, continues to support donation campaigns for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), which is one of the most important health problems.

Continuing to support by publishing the campaigns of children with SMA on its official website, the Metropolitan Municipality acts as an intermediary between benevolent citizens and families in the campaigns launched for the treatment costs of families with children with SMA in Turkey, with the motto "goodness is contagious".

A TOTAL OF 30 MILLION 250 Thousand TL DONATIONS WERE COLLECTED

The donation campaign started 21 months ago for baby Zehra Meva, the 7,5-month-old daughter of Ankara Fire Department personnel Musa Kalınsazlıoğlu with SMA, has ended.

While 30 million 250 thousand TL was collected with the campaign, approximately 300 volunteers and firefighters who set their hearts on the campaign came together with the family at the Ankara Fire Department Central Station. At the meeting where emotional moments were experienced, colorful balloons were released into the sky with the theme "May the daisies not wither, long live Zehra Meva and all children with SMA2 in good health" and the slogan "Zehra Meva Won".

Emphasizing that they are happy to be a part of the happiness experienced in Ankara Fire Brigade, Salih Kurumlu, Head of the Metropolitan Municipality Fire Brigade, expressed his thoughts with the following words:

“After we learned that Zehra Meva, the beautiful daughter of Musa Kalınsazlıoğlu, one of the members of the fire department, has SMA type 2, we completed our campaign as a result of a 7,5-month campaign. That's why we thought of a balloon kite festival. With any luck, our daughter Zehra Meva will fly to America for her treatment next week. We believe that he will return in good health. We would like to thank NGOs, volunteers and all members of our fire brigade, especially our Mayor, Mr. Mansur Yavaş, who supported us from the beginning to the end of this campaign, they did not leave us alone.”

FROM ZEHRA MEVA BABY'S FAMILY THANKS TO ALL VOLUNTEERS

Father Musa Kalınsazlıoğlu and mother Rabia Kalınsazlıoğlu also expressed their feelings as follows, emphasizing that they had a difficult time during the campaign, but they succeeded thanks to the volunteers:

Musa Kalınsazlıoğlu (Father of Zehra Meva): “First of all, I would like to thank our Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur and all the volunteers. We have such a problem, we said to our Head of Fire Brigade. "Your problem is our problem, we will continue the campaign together," he said. He was with us from the beginning to the end of the campaign. The amount of the drug was very high, we could not afford it. It was gathered with the campaign, effort was made. After taking the medicine, it doesn't just end with taking the medicine, whether it's physical therapy or healthy eating, they're all in this circle. With your prayers, we will overcome these obstacles. I offer my gratitude. We are very happy, I hope Zehra Meva will get her medicine.”

Rabia Kalınsazlıoğlu (Mother of Zehra Meva): “Zehra Meva was diagnosed with SMA type 1 when she was 2 year old. He needs to undergo gene therapy abroad so that he can continue his life independently. It is the most expensive drug in the world. It makes 2 million 200 thousand dollars. We ran a campaign with permission from the governor's office. There were many people who supported us. Everyone did their best. In 7,5 months, this is a success, a huge number has been collected. God bless everyone, thank you very much to each and every one of them.”

Hüseyin Gürçay, who is the chairman of the campaign, pointed out that the campaign, which was carried out under the leadership of the Ankara Fire Department, made a great impression and said, “We learned about SMA disease with Zehra Meva. Before, we did not know what kind of disease this disease was. We used to watch and listen to it on the news and we used to get sad, but when we heard that we are a part of our family, we called it a rescue operation from direct operations, since we are firefighters, and we started it right here from the Fire Brigade Department. From here, I would like to thank the eldest of our family, Mr. Mansur Yavaş, the Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, for his contributions to us, and in his presence, I sincerely thank Volkan Memduh Gültekin, General Coordinator of Press and Public Relations. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our Fire Brigade Chief Salih Kurumlu, all our colleagues, and all our volunteers in Turkey and Europe who set their hearts on this job. We will be looking forward to the days when Zehra Meva walks from the plane," he said.
