Ülkü, who painted cartoon heroes, folk poets and unforgettable names from Yeşilçam films in every corner of İzmir, said, "I may be disabled, but I can produce as long as they don't hinder me."
Murat Ülkü's love of painting knows no obstacles, who cannot use his hand due to a work accident in the private sector. Murat Ülkü, a 2010-year-old father of two, who has been working as a paint master at the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Parks and Gardens Department since 49, paints cartoon heroes, folk poets, and unforgettable names from Yeşilçam films all over Izmir.
“I wear the brush between my fingers”
Ülkü said that his right arm was torn off in a work accident and was later sewn up. "I can't use my arm and hand, but I wear the brush between my fingers. I may be disabled, but that does not prevent me from working. I love my job. I'm happy. Every new drawing is like a new life for me. I made a lot of effort. Even I couldn't believe myself because of the stage I've reached." Explaining that he had dreamed of painting since my childhood, Ülkü said, “Some people around me said, 'You can't do it'. I did not give up. I am determined. I may be disabled, but I can produce as long as they don't block me. I am very happy to work under the roof of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. I would like to thank my managers for giving me this opportunity. They have always been helpful and supportive,” he said.
It started to make kids happy
Ülkü, who took her work to a different point by improving herself in a short time, said, “When I painted in the fields, the happiness on the faces of the children motivated me even more. I paint on walls, trash cans, barrels. "I work in almost every part of the city," he said.
