Fatma Girik, the famous star of Turkish cinema, who lived in the Bodrum district of Muğla and went to Istanbul for treatment about six months ago, died in the intensive care unit of the private hospital where she was treated this morning. In the statement made by the hospital regarding Girik's death, it was said, "He died as a result of multi-organ failure that developed while he was being treated for viral pneumonia due to Covid 19."

Fatma Girik, 6, the famous star of Turkish cinema, who lives in the bag district of Bodrum district of Muğla and went to Istanbul for treatment about 79 months ago, passed away this morning in the intensive care unit of a private hospital where she was treated in Istanbul.

Cause of Death

In the statement made by the hospital, it was stated that "Mr. Fatma Girik, the plane tree and valuable actress of Turkish cinema, died as a result of multi-organ failure that developed while she was being treated for viral pneumonia due to Covid 19.

Fatma Girik's partner Memduh Ün died on October 16, 2015 and was buried in Bodrum's Torba Cemetery. Fatma Girik lived in her home in Torba, with her mother Münevver Girik and older sister Müesser Girik.

Where will it be buried?

A commemoration ceremony will be held for Girik at 10.00 tomorrow in Şişli Municipality, with the participation of municipality employees. The second ceremony will be held at 11.00:XNUMX in Cemal Reşit Rey.

Fatma Girik's funeral will be sent to Bodrum to be buried after the funeral prayer to be held at Teşvikiye Mosque after the noon prayer. It was learned that Girik's life partner, director Memduh Ün, who passed away in 2015, will be buried next to his grave in Torbalı Cemetery.

In an interview he gave in 2019, Girik said, “After all, I am not a robot, I am a living thing; One day I will surely taste death. I will meet Memduh (Fame). Death is not a bad thing. If it was bad, God would not give death. We will go so that new ones come after us. When I die, I don't want such a big farewell or ceremony. I want to leave quietly like Gülriz Sururi.”

Who is Fatma Girik?

Fatma Girik was born on December 12, 1942 in Istanbul. She graduated from Cağaloğlu Girls' High School. His first leading role in 1957 was Leke, directed and scripted by Seyfi Havaeri. Leke was followed by a few more unpretentious productions, in which he failed to make a name for himself as an actor. Fatma Girik's performance, which will not go unnoticed, was the 1960 film Death Pursuit, directed by Memduh Ün. His acquaintance with Memduh Ün was one of the turning points in Girik's life.

Fatma Girik, whose star was shining in a movie she acted in Yeşilçam at the age of 14, has made nearly 200 films in her career. Fatma Girik made her mark among the unforgettable names of Turkish cinema with films such as "Bloody Nigar" and "Avenger of Snakes".

Fatma Girik, who also entered politics in the following years, served as the Mayor of Şişli for a while. Apart from politics and acting, he also hosted a program called Söz Fato on television screens for a short time.
