Konya-Karaman High Speed Train Line was opened with a ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony attended by the state's summit, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave good news to the citizens. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu emphasized that they add strength to the strength of the railway network.

Karaman-Konya High Speed Train Line was opened with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. President Erdoğan made statements at the ceremony held in Konya.

Headlines from President Erdogan's speech: “11 years ago, in 2011, we introduced Konya to the High Speed Train. Was it the High Speed Train dream of those who came before us? What did we do with dreams? We made it a reality. Our citizen, who took the high-speed train from Ankara to Konya, enjoyed this fast and safe comfortable transportation vehicle with you. Praise be to this project, which we see as a different meeting of Hadji Bayram Veli and Mevlana, has made millions of our people happy and served them since it came into operation. For Konyalı, it is now possible to go to Ankara, İstanbul and Eskişehir by train; It is more comfortable, easier and more economical than other means of transportation. We are taking this opportunity one step further, extending it to Karaman. Today, we are starting a new era by opening the Konya-Karaman High Speed Train Line. This step will be followed by Karaman- Ulukışla, then Mersin and Adana, then Osmaniye and Gaziantep routes. When we add the Ankara-Sivas line, which has trial flights, all four parts of our country will still be accessible by fast or high-speed train for Konya.”

Stating that the railway mobilization initiated in the last period of the Ottoman Empire and the first period of the Republic was deliberately interrupted, President Erdoğan said, “In the 10th year of the Republic, marches were written saying, “We have built the homeland from four beginnings with iron nets. However, the railway mobilization that started in the last years of the Ottoman Empire and the first years of the Republic was deliberately interrupted in the following years. Who started the construction of the high-speed and high-speed railroad in our country, which put the rail transport on its agenda, renewed the existing ones as if they were made from scratch, and added new lines to them? We are, we are. We have increased the length of its lines from 10 thousand 959 kilometers to 13 thousand 22 kilometers. We also built 213 kilometers of high-speed trains and 219 kilometers of high-speed train lines, which have no examples in our country before.” he said.

'TRAIN FROM LONDON REACHES ANATOLIA'

Stating that a train departing from London reaches Anatolia, Erdoğan said, “A train departing from London enters our country from Edirne by crossing Europe and the Balkans, and reaches Anatolia by passing through Marmaray. Who built the Marmaray under the Bosphorus? We do not talk, we produce work. Likewise, who built the Eurasian tunnel under the Bosphorus? It's not bullshit, we produce work. But here is Mr. Kemal, his supporters, not their work. They only renew the taps of some fountains and perform a ceremony for it. You know before, they were holding a groundbreaking ceremony. For the first time, whatever happened, they held the groundbreaking ceremony, I was astonished, to be honest. This train, which traverses Anatolia from beginning to end, can reach Asia via the Kars, Tbilisi, Baku railway and go as far as Beijing. The problems experienced in sea and air freight transportation during the epidemic period highlighted the railways as a serious alternative. With these investments we have made, we have left behind the most critical stages in making our country ready for rail freight and human transportation. We are determined to make Turkey a central country on the railway, like many other fields, by rapidly completing our current investments. Konya-Karaman High Speed Train Line will be an important part of the south axis of this great project. How many minutes will we go from here to Karaman? 50 minutes. How? My Konya citizen will reach Karaman and my Karaman citizen will reach Konya with all comfort and everything.” used the phrases.

Erdogan then moved to Karaman by high-speed train. Erdogan came to Karaman from Konya by High Speed Train. Thus, the first expedition between Konya and Karaman was organized. Making a statement here, Erdogan said, “It will be 5 hours from Istanbul to Karaman. The distance between Konya and Karaman will be 40 minutes. Speed will be our comfort. The cost of this investment is 1 billion 300 million TL. I wish our 102 kilometer high-speed train line to be beneficial for our country and cities. We renewed the lines we took over at 10 thousand kilometers from the beginning. We have increased our total line to 13 thousand 22 kilometers by constructing a high-speed train line, which did not exist before in our country. It's a matter of the heart. This is perseverance. We persevered, we trusted. Trial runs of the Ankara-Sivas High Speed Train Line have started. We will extend this line to Kars and bring it to an international level. Our work continues for the construction of many fast and high-speed railways. Our goal is to build a great and powerful Turkey. We are striving to place our country among the top 10 economies of the world.” he said.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a statement about the opening of the Konya-Karaman High Speed Train Line, emphasizing that they add strength to the strength of the railway network.

Expressing that the Konya-Karaman High Speed Train Line is also among the prestigious projects, Karaismailoğlu said, “We have increased speed and capacity by making infrastructure and superstructure improvements on our line. We will carry out both freight and passenger transportation on our line. We have built 102 bridges and culverts, 74 under-overpasses and 39 pedestrian under- and overpasses within the scope of our 17-kilometer line. We increased the line capacity, which is currently 26 double trains, to 60 double trains after the project. Travel time between Konya and Karaman decreased from 1 hour 20 minutes to 40 minutes. Travel time between Ankara-Konya-Karaman has also decreased from 3 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes.

ANNUAL 63 MILLION TL SAVINGS

Pointing out that 10 million TL will be saved annually, 39,6 million TL from time, 3,9 million TL from energy, 4,5 million TL from accident prevention, 5 million TL from emission savings, 63 million TL from maintenance savings, Karaismailoğlu also said that 25 thousand 340 tons will be saved. He also stated that less carbon emissions will occur.

WORK CONTINUES IN KARAMAN-ULUKIŞLA SECTION

Noting that the work continues in the Karaman-Ulukışla section, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu continued as follows: “Within the scope of the project; With the construction of the new 135 kilometers long railway line, we planned the construction of 2 tunnels, 12 bridges, 44 under-overpasses and 141 culverts. So far, we have achieved 89 percent physical progress in infrastructure and superstructure construction works. We continue the design studies for signaling. We are continuing the preparations for the tender for the electrification works. With the completion of this section, the travel time between Karaman and Ulukışla, which was 3 hours 40 minutes, will decrease to 1 hour 35 minutes.

Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu presented a model train to President Erdoğan as a commemoration of the opening of the line.
