ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORT SME
The Kocaeli Smart Bicycle System “KOBİS”, which was established to facilitate urban access, to create intermediate facilities that nourish public transportation systems, and to encourage the use of an environmental and sustainable transportation vehicle, started service in 2014. KOBİS, which has been used for 7 years, has become the preferred means of transportation by citizens during the pandemic process. KOBİS continued to grow in 2021 as well.
74 STATION, 194 THOUSAND MEMBERS
Providing service by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation, KOBIS provides service with 74 stations, 864 smart parking units and 535 smart bicycles. Another 2021 people were added to the KOBIS family in 35. With these figures, the number of KOBIS members reached 575.
190 THOUSAND 268 RENTALS
According to 2021 data, 190 thousand 268 bikes were rented from KOBIS stations. With these rentals, citizens used bicycles for 11 million 385 thousand 435 minutes.
