IMM will organize special programs for journalist-writer Uğur Mumcu and all intellectuals who were murdered in Turkey, who struggled for the public to reach accurate information throughout his life.
Uğur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Foundation (UMAG) organizes events in many parts of the country during the 'Justice and Democracy Week' between 24-31 January every year. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is preparing free programs to draw attention to all the values this week represents and to commemorate all the intellectuals we have lost.
Interviews, exhibitions and music concerts will be held in the events organized by the IMM Culture Department. In the events, intellectuals and journalists who were murdered by political murders in Turkey's recent history will be commemorated. It will remind us of the contributions of the names we lost to the profession of journalism and the struggle for democracy.
The programs to be held at İBB Bakırköy Cem Karaca Cultural Center will take place between 28-30 January. Interviews will be held with journalist-writer Barış Terkoğlu, Barış Pehlivan, Murat Ağırel, Timur Soykan and Dil Association President Sevgi Özel, as well as Istanbul Bar Association Vice President Nazan Moroğlu. Painter Göksen Ezeltürk's "Light Ones" exhibition, which consists of oil painting portraits of murdered journalists, will also meet with Istanbulites.
Within the scope of the events, IMM Orchestras Turkish Folk Music Ensemble on the evening of January 29, and musician Soner Olgun on the evening of January 30; He will perform a concert for Uğur Mumcu and all our killed intellectuals.
