Making a wish for a 2022 where merit is prioritized, violence against women is not talked about, children receive better education, and the dreams of young people are built within the country, İmamoğlu said, “I wish peace in the whole world. It is not that people who migrate are people who have become refugees; I want a world where everyone is happy and can live in their own homeland, where their rights are protected. I wish for a world, Turkey and Istanbul, where every individual can feel confident, strong, and can exist with their own mind, life, belief and ethnic origin.”
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlugave its New Year's message from the Beyaz Köşk in Emirgan Grove, where it held its last shift of the year. Stating that every new year that comes is greeted with hope and joy, İmamoğlu said, “The year we left behind, on the other hand, brings a little sadness to all of us. Because you are a year older and with your memories of the past, you remember that year and remember it with longing.” Reminding that 2021 was a difficult year for Istanbul, Turkey and the world, İmamoğlu said, “The pandemic continued.
