After Ege University, Dokuz Eylul University (DEU) and Izmir Institute of Technology (IYTE), Katip Celebi University students can also access the hot meals distributed by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. The Soup Houses Branch started to distribute meals in front of the library in the Çiğli Campus of Katip Çelebi University every weekday between 17.00 and 19.00. The students, who have difficulties in making a living due to the increasingly difficult living conditions, are satisfied with the application.
Food for three thousand people at four locations
Ebru Asal, Head of the Soup Houses Branch, said that they have increased the food service started in state universities from two to four locations. Stating that hot meals are distributed to three thousand people per day at these four points, Asal said, “We believe that this service has benefited them to some extent. What we can do for our young people, who are our future, is less.”
“Both our money stays in our pockets and we are satisfied”
Yasin Günlü, a university student, said, “With this application, our money stays in our pockets. For this reason, we owe a debt of gratitude to the Metropolitan Municipality. Also, the food delivered is of good quality. Our stomach is full. They are doing a very good job,” he said.
“We got rid of the cost of food”
Şenol Çavdar stated that he started to have financial difficulties even though it was the middle of the month and said, “We got rid of the food cost partially. We also didn't know what to eat. Everything is too expensive. The food here is nutritious, hearty, and free. Now I'm out of the exam and I'm going to sit here and have my dinner. It is a good application,” he said.

Furkan Doğru also said that it is very good to have such an application for students and said, “It is an extra help for us to have dinner here. We would like to thank Izmir Metropolitan Municipality very much.”
Ezgi Çetin said, “In these days when the economy is in such a state, we really need this support as students. We account for everything penny by penny. We are in a period of finals. Our brain needs glucose. That's why this application has been very good."
Soup service at six points in the morning
The Soup Stations created by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which distributes meals to students at four points every weekday between 17.00 and 19.00, also continue to serve hot soup to students.
