Located in the heart of China, the city of Chongqing is among the most populated settlements in the world with a population of 35 million. This huge city will soon be home to a mind-blowing construction project. A new ferry terminal will be built in the city; The building stretching across the bay will look like something out of a science fiction novel. The building will function as the Juntan International Cruise Center.

The project is being developed by the architectural firm Mad Architects. The aforementioned company used mostly round and oval shapes to design this 430-meter-long giant center. The six buildings overlooking the Yangtze River have 50 square meters of commercial space and a 15 square meter cruise port.

The company's team responsible for the project explains that they designed the center with a futuristic and somewhat surrealist approach. The building is covered with a floor-to-ceiling glazed aluminum wall. Giant skylights illuminate the interior. Work on the entire building, which will be carried out in cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Construction Research, will begin in November 2022 and end in 2027.

For several decades, the city of Chongqing has undergone a dazzling transformation, gaining 10 new residents each year. The city has thus become a sort of experimental business for architects to house newcomers. The new terminal, which looks like it came out of Star Wars decors, is also a part of this architectural development. It should not be surprising that the city of Chongqing, which is in such a feverish activity, has become one of the world's cement production centers.
