Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Murat Zorluoğlu pointed out that the ultimate solution for Trabzonspor fans to reach the stadium is Tramway and Light Rail Systems.
Chairman Zorluoğlu said, “The ultimate solution to this work is to switch to the tram and light rail system in Trabzon in public transportation. For both the stadium and the City Hospital, the light rail system in Trabzon has become inevitable. We are working hard on this. We will have public announcements soon. We were waiting for the Transport Master Plan. The first report has been given. In line with that report, we will carry it to a certain point with the support of our President, Minister of Transport, and Honorable Deputies. Nothing concrete at the moment. The data in the Transportation Master Plan show that the number of passengers for the light rail system is sufficient during peak hours. We will concentrate on that. Our detailed explanations in the coming days will be after the studies. I'm not saying this as if it's a certainty right now. We are working on it with precision. It was our promise to bring a light rail system to this city, I hope we are making an effort to realize this.”
Expressing that the light rail system will be implemented in stages, Zorluoğlu said, “It happens gradually. In the first place, from this region to the city center, in the next sections, the airport, the university, the target is between Akçaabat and Arsin. This is long term business. We want to start the first phase with the support of the city, let's see we are working."
