Konya Metropolitan Municipality's “Accessibility Master Plan for Accessible City Konya” received an award in the Barrier-Free Cities Idea Competition organized by the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (TBB).
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife Emine Erdoğan, Minister of Family and Social Services Derya Yanık and the mayors of the awarded municipalities attended the Barrier-Free Cities Idea Competition Award Ceremony hosted by the Pendik Municipality in Istanbul at the Yunus Emre Cultural Center.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality's “Accessibility Master Plan for the Accessible City of Konya” was deemed worthy of an award in the competition. Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay received the award from Ms. Emine Erdogan.
Thanking for the award, Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay said that they tried to produce services with the understanding of Konya Model Municipality; He stated that they would implement the "Accessibility Master Plan for the Accessible City of Konya" based on the needs of disabled citizens.
Mayor Altay said, “With this project, which we will implement at the points that our citizens use heavily, we want to ensure that our disabled brothers and sisters can reach public buildings, parks and other living spaces in the most comfortable way at 15 different points in the city center where mobility is highest. This meaningful award we received today will be our greatest motivation for our work on this subject. On behalf of all my compatriots, I would like to thank our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, Mrs. Derya Yanık, our Minister of Family and Social Services, and everyone who contributed to this meaningful award.” he said.
